We'll accept recomendations from countries with low levels of corruption but not from Albania

LOL, you will only accept hundreds of billions of euros and not return it. Good for you, bad for the others in the region who had the same plans :).

Right you're. Greece should never have joined a fascist entity like the EU.That is why the newly elected government could therefore tell the ECB and the Germans to take a running jump. If Greece decided to default there is nothing that the Germans or the ECB could do about.

Well,Merkel as a former leader of the communist youth in East Germany knows one thing or two about blackmail and intimidation. In fact she will do anything to accelerate the progress towards her desired dystopian, totalitarian, bureaucratic model society grandiosely recreated exactly the sort of overarching economic scheme that Stalin would have adored. We can only imagine Euroshock troops scuttling around the continent crushing the last vestiges of national spirit and democracy.
(Leonidas, 27 January 2015 17:31)

Sorry dude. Greece has nobody else to blame but themselves. You chose to do the thing you did, and now you are were you are. You had choices and this is where you ended. Nobody forced you into the EU, Eurozone, bad investments, horrible tax collection, or exorbitant social services you couldn't afford. This is all your own doing.

For the others in the region, Greece showed the EU what can happen when a corrupt country is not ready for the EU model, so it won't be that easy to pull one over for Serbia, Albania, and the others.

Yea, EU can just say no. This government falls and within a year or two back to the previous government. Its that easy. EU holds the keys here.

Tough job awaits them, but since the Greek people voted for them, good luck. From their program (which is longer than Mirel posted), they will have against them the military, the police, the Church, and the big businesses who have paid no taxes for years.

For the others in the region, Greece showed the EU what can happen when a corrupt country is not ready for the EU model, so it won't be that easy to pull one over for Serbia, Albania, and the others.

SYRIZA's Program:
1. Audit of the public debt and renegotiation of interest due and suspension of payments until the economy has revived and growth and employment return.

2. Raise income tax to 75% for all incomes over 500,000 euros

3. Use buildings of the government, banks and the Church for the homeless.

4. Open dining rooms in public schools to offer free breakfast and lunch to children.
5. Subvention up to 30% of mortgage payments for poor families who cannot meet payments.
6.Nationalisation of banks.
7.Nationalisation of ex-public (service & utilities) companies in strategic sectors for the growth of the country (railroads, airports, mail, water).
8.Demilitarisation of the Coast Guard and anti-insurrectional special troops. Prohibition for police to wear masks or use fire arms during demonstrations.
9.Nationalisation of private hospitals. Elimination of private participation in the national health system.

10. Withdrawal of Greek troops from Afghanistan and the Balkans. No Greek soldiers beyond our own borders.

11. Abolition of military cooperation with Israel. Support for creation of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.

12. Closure of all foreign bases in Greece and withdrawal from NATO.

Wow!!!

Welcome back Enver Hoxha,Fidel Kastro and Che Guevara!
If Tsipras will implement his program Greece will be new Cuba of Europe.

IF this was just about Greece, the EU could weather the storm possibly. But EUroskepticism is surging in practically every single country in Europe. Anti-EU parties are the fastest growing political options
(Ari Gold, 26 January 2015 09:59)

You're right.Spain and Portugal will also hold elections in 2015, with anti-euro parties set to make significant gains. Marine Le Pen’s Front National is also anti-euro, so even France could be brought into the euro-exit mix.Grexit will not be allowed to happen, a fudge will be found that involved the word restructuring of debt repayments, rather than write off - Why?If Greek debts are written off the ECB/EU knows the floodgates will open and Spain and Italy, Portugal will be clamouring for the same, possibly France too. Furthermore,If Greece was either forced or allowed to exit the Eurozone there would be total short-term chaos in the markets, but longer term the Greeks will have some sort of chance of prosperity, tourist industry would boom, out of the death clutches of the Euro, and there would be a great surge in employment, especially among the young. But Greece recovering outside of the Euro would spell disaster for the Euro project, so of course it will not be allowed to happen by the idiots in charge of Europe.

Another nail in the EU coffin. Besides the Greek leftists have always been special friendly to Russia. Yesterday it was amusing to hear them singing the Communist partisan song with the Russian KATJUSHA melody.

Congrats !

Congrats !
(rote, 26 January 2015 10:01)that is rich, very rich! Greece is not holding any cards at all in this poker game. It still needs the bailout payments to continue, and they are not in a position to dictate terms. The best thing for the EU to do is allow Greece to collapse and then go in and pick up the pieces. It will not take long for the people to realize their disillusionment with the new govt and that it cannot possible fulfill its promises.
Russia is not in a position to help out financially so the songs of communism are falling on deaf ears.
Greece is set for a long hard fall.

Syriza is forming a governing coalition with the Independent Greeks party which is also anti-EU austerity. It's the party I supported in Greece and can hopefully provide a balance to Syriza's radical socialism.

But the important thing here is this is another bloody nose for the "European Dream". IF this was just about Greece, the EU could weather the storm possibly. But EUroskepticism is surging in practically every single country in Europe. Anti-EU parties are the fastest growing political options absolutely everywhere except Serbia (my God, how sad).

The EU is finished. Think of this as the early/mid 80s and the EU is the Soviet Union. That's exactly what this is. My hope is we are more mid 80s than early. Syriza is one step closer to that. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-european-dream-is-dying-state-by-state-2015-1
