This is fantastic news! Now Dacic and Vucic can make trips to Tirana 3 times a week to pick up their paycheck and visit their homosexual lovers in Albania.

To me any destination is good if it makes comercial sense. If you follow a bit specific articlein the business world, i.e. Financial Times, it seems that Ethihad has to prove thenselves first. Even airline insider are saying that Ethihad doesn't have a clear strategy. Emirates have a clear strategy in their strategic partnerships, they like to bring as many as possible passgers to their hubin Dubai, whether Ethihad is trying to compete within Europe, which obviously is not working, their investment in Air Berlin costed them already 500 Mio Euroand now they will takeover Alitalia, well good for the state of Italy to get rid of it. I understand that Ethihad is shareholder of 49 in Air Serbia, but what has been paid for the 49%? These things will all come out at one stage.

This makes business sense. As Danilo pointed out, this is more of a transit point for Albanians. Those Albanians traveling to Europe and possibly the US, if Air Serbia does start that service next year, have a nice option. Just like you have many Serbs in Europe and North America, you have many Albanians there as well. It's an easier and quicker connection through Belgrade since it's a smaller airport that's easier to navigate.

Also, you still have Serbian and Albanian business people on the route. Plus, whatever small amount of tourists or visits amongst family/friends. There are still Albanians living throughout Serbia...not a significant population, but add up those small amounts with the transit/connections and the route has potential.
s much closer and not a huge airport like Frankfurt.

Poor comments all over!

Nothing wrong with Air Serbia flying to Tirana.
Nothing wrong with Albanian Airlines flying to Belgrade if they thought it was profitable.
Nothing wrong with Serbs visiting Albania, or Albanians visiting Serbia - not everyone is a crazed nationalist that would have a heart attack at the thought. The more people travel and see for themselves, the less they would be prone to believe outlandish propaganda and hate speach, and the less they will be prone to dehumanize each-other.
And if Air Serbia will find out that there's is no traffic to sustain the connection, I'm sure they will drop it.

Peter Sudyka, there are hordes of Polish tourists in Albania right now, enjoying the Albanian summer. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't take the long drive, if they thought Albania wasn't a place worth visiting. And there are plenty of EU nationals (mostly italian and greeks) who have emigrated and live and work in Albania. And they all state, that there are more opportunities in Albania right now than there are in their respective countries.

Wow, and one more Air Serbia super connection, let's see how all these new connections reflect on the financial results...who will pay for the losses at the end?

Hahaha, Rocky, I can't imagine Serbs (or anyone, for that matter) ever choosing a country like Albania to emigrate to in order to escape economic hardships. :) But you gave us a good laugh anyway.

This route isn't about Serbs travelling to Albania or Albanians travelling to Serbia. It's for Albanians travelling to western europe through Belgrade. There aren't so many airlines flying out of Tirana these days, so it's a good move for Air Serbia.

Hopefully they won't overstay their visas, with things so bad back in Serbia, you just never know! We don't want them claiming that Albania is theirs as well!
