"Hague Tribunal did not know what to do with Šešelj"

Rasim Ljajić has said the case of Vojislav Šešelj represents "a precedent" for which a great part of the responsibility lies with the Hague Tribunal.

Danilo said, "In other words, what's wrong with you?"

I find it rather humorous that - Danilo, Doot, Danny Danbridge, Danilo_Vancouver is asking this question.

And what's it going to get him in the end? maybe a few 100-strong rallies where they bus in villagers to Belgrade and his picture hung in Peggy's favourite pub in Australia.

It's not, that Seselj did not wish to put a defense case before the trial chamber. But he was harrased till the the end by the registry, which denied him for all the time money to pay for the people, he used for almost ten years without paying. I can only recommend to read the transcripts so that anybody can see with his own eyes, what a charade was played out.

If you have no time just look, how many trial days in the first and last four years the trial chamber deemed necessary to further the process. 43 !! in 2930 days. They just wanted Seselj to rot in jail. because they had no convincing arguments to convict him.

One has to ask why the Hague didn't just kill him in there.

Toothless illiterates? But haven't the "smart modernists" led Serbia for 14 years now? And now, Seseljs former assistants have taken up that same suicidal political ideology. So yes, it will be interesting when the teacher and the mentor meets his students once again who hoped he would just rot away for the rest of his life in jail.

One has to ask why the Hague didn't just kill him in there. My guess is the West wants him to come out and shake things up in Serbia, so that Vucic and his puppet gov't doesn't clear too many EU hurdles too fast. Why wouldn't they want that? Because Serbia will never in a trillion years join the EU.

Though you like to demonize others who don't believe in your radical extremist ideology, I think the illiterate moron is someone who truly believes it is even possible that Serbia ever become a member of the EU.

Danilo

Well, the Hague did the allure of Seselj absolutely no favors by keeping him locked in there for 13 years without a conviction.
(Ari Gold, 26 June 2014 21:50)

The only one to blame for that is himself. And that was the whole point. Act like a clown in court and make himself a hero to some toothless illiterates in Serbia and some confused hobbyists in Chicago.

And what's it going to get him in the end? maybe a few 100-strong rallies where they bus in villagers to Belgrade and his picture hung in Peggy's favourite pub in Australia.

For what? Contempt of court? This is the only crime he was found guilty of. How about right after Oric and Gotovina? The 'court' doesn't know what to do with him. They cannot find him guilty but they don't want to let him go because they will have egg on their face for holding him there for so long.
What to do, what to do? I know, he will commit suicide like someone else and that'll be it.
I wonder what human rights organisations are doing and why they are keeping so quiet on this issue.

In that case, double-shame that you would see fit to laud a fascist when you've personally been victims of such a mentality.

How could you praise someone that's on record of calling for ethnic lynch when you yourselves have been victims of ethnic lynch.

In other words, what's wrong with you?

Ari Gold

You should be ashamed of yourself for cheering for a fascist some place you've visited maybe a few times while enjoying all the benefits of a multicultural society that you clearly take for granted.
(Danilo, 26 June 2014 16:39)

Well, the Hague did the allure of Seselj absolutely no favors by keeping him locked in there for 13 years without a conviction. It only drove the legend of Seselj to much higher popularity. Now he is seen as a Mandela-like figure by many nationalists. Hell, Mandela probably killed more people than Seselj ever did, seeing as he was more of a mouth piece for the ideology at the time.

The Hague knows this too, otherwise they would have convicted him and he'd be serving his sentence. But now the establishment in Serbia is shaking because the President and Prime Minister of Serbia literally used to go fetch Seselj his coffee.

God knows Seselj and the Radicals are not the answer. But hey, your DS otporista's have been talking about "modernism" and "European values" for well over a decade now. Thus far, the EU has no alternative politics have led Serbia to complete ruin. Frankly, I don't think Seselj could do any worse than his predecessors.

Rocky

Hell, just hand him over to the people in Kosova, Croatia, or Bosnia! I'm sure they can find something, that will be perfect for Seselj!

The Kid's Bro

Danny boy you is a bit presumptuous. How do you know the Canadian Kid was nor run out of his Yugoslav home, likelihood is he was as very few "Kids" in Canada went there ,people I know included, of their own volition. They went because the Croat and Bosniak fascists drove them out and Canada offered sanctuary. And yes they undoubtedly do enjoy the multicultural society over there. However they had one in Yugoslavia and were happy there which should have been just as fulfilling but due to these factions that was not possible. I didn't hear of any Serb prior to 1990 seeking the break up of Yugoslavia we like multiculturalism it's people like you who don't. The Kid is entitled to his own opinion of Dr.Seselj and you are free to disagree with him and have your own,but it would appear that those sitting in judgment of him in the Hague are of the same ilk as you Danny in that they are totally intellectually compromised by the Dr. that they just want him to disappear. This trial, had it been conducted in any country in the world would have been vilified by the by Amnesty International who have remained breath-takingly silent whilst this man who is quite clearly innocent but an irritation has been abused by this flawed judicial process.

So the moral of the story is that it is better to be in prison in the Hague than a free person in Serbia?

This must explain to our "patriots" why the process is lasting so long. Seselj does not want to get out.
