Resident of Fredericton,
Anyone who committed hate crimes must be punished. But there is a difference between the aggressor and the freedom fighter, the motive. Trying to level the playing field between the Serbs and their victims ( Bosnian, Croatian, Albanian), it's a strategy some Serbs use ( including the government of Serbia) . It has not worked, it will not work. For every damaged Serbian grave, we show them a massive graveyard full of Albanians, for every stone thrown by our children we show them the remains of our murdered babies, for every Serb that cannot return to Kosovo we show them hundred of thousands of Albanians that had to leave Kosovo due to the execution of Cubrilovic doctrine, for every alleged hardship on Serbs we show them thousands of rapes and burned houses. So yes, they can keep talking to themselves, nobody is listening. If they really want reconciliation, they should start by recognizing the crimes committed in their names and apologize for them.

@Peggy:

Though it's thoughtful of you to condemn the actions of this hypothetical Serb passenger my question is what do you mean by "your opinion"?? I'm not sure how to tell you this but I can't be blamed for the actions of some of my fellow Canadians.You agree? Right?

Would most people(even many Serbs) condemn this Serb passenger's actions and therefore want him or her punished to the fullest extent of the law? I know I would.

I really can't say if Ramush Haradinaj is Muslim but since I believe I read somewhere on-line that his wife's name is Anita I always assumed she isn't Muslim simply because Anita doesn't sound like a Muslim name.

@ Sam A & even Brandon:

First of all I'm going to concede that this comment is a bit off topic but I'll mention it so here goes:

Did you hear of that incident that occured last year where on a U.S. internal flight from Minneapolis,Minnesota to Atlanta,Georgia was a woman and her adopted black 19 month old and seated next to them was an elderely white man from the state of Idaho who was inebriated and as the plane was landing the youth began to cry due to pressure in the ears and the Idaho passenger demand the youth's adopted mother (who actually is white) to "shut that n****r baby up!" and then proceeded to slap the toddler causing him to scream even louder.Incidentally his assailant is serving an 8th month old prison sentence and many folks(perhaps even whites) condemn the assailant's actions.

So the question is if on some flight (regardless of where) where some Serb passenger (inebriated or not) is seated next to an Albanian baby or toddler and at some point the Albanian youngster is crying because of some illness or ailment but the Serb is irritated by the kid's crying and therefore tells the parent(s) to shut the youth up but worse utters an anti-Albanian slur against the youth than slaps the youth how much of a "pariah" would most people consider this hypothetical Serb passenger to be? Would most people(even many Serbs) condemn this Serb passenger's actions and therefore want him or her punished to the fullest extent of the law? I know I would.

With that primitive mentality don't expect Europe to treat Serbs as human beings. Your leaders are chosen by who had the most blood on his hands during the Balkan wars of the 1990's. And you wonder why Serbs are pariahs of Europe. You lost all rights to live next to your former neighbors. Go hang your head in shame.
(Sam A., 12 June 2014 08:06)

Who cares about europe? You were the ones that bombed us and killed innocent children and bombed hospitals and yet you have the guts to come to a serbian site and talk crap like that. If its anyone that should hang themselves in shame its the west creating death and horror alloweeer the world wherever its suits your own interests. From the colonizing of african countris until today.

You should be thankful for serbs killing terrorists and fanatic muslims.

Its a shame the Serbian Police only managed to liquidate half his village including 2 of his brothers, next time we hope we wont leave any man standing. But I find it funny how he is president now, now Dacic has a new friend. Just like Thaci, they both have Serbian arrest warrants, but that wont stop Dacic holding hands with them and being lover boys (a crime in itelf if I recall correctly). The love between Dacic and the Kosovo government knows no boundaries :S

The current argument is specifically about the person appointed by the president to try to form a governing coalition, not the governing coalition he manages to put together. According to the Kosovo constitution, he gets two tries to form a government acceptable to parliament, and if he fails, there's another election. The produre the 3 party heads are proposing is that a coalition be formed in order to decide the choice of "mandatar" (why do you call him in English?). Whether this has been done in other countries (the current line of argument) is irrelevant if Kosovo law specifies another procedure. Constitutions are meant to be interpreted, so the most straight-forward way ahead is to ask for a ruling by the Constitutioal Court, and that will be the law for this and future elections unless the Constitution is amended. It's not so important what the procedure is, as long as it's seen as legal, and that everybody follows it. Thaci owes it to the country to take the case to court, just to clarify what the rules are, and all those involved owe the country prompt compliance with whatever the court decides.

The "coalition that has won the majority in the Assembly" - not a post-election coalition of the losers. These parties did not run as a coalition. If it goes to the Consitutional Court and they rule that this is legal, the losers will always end up in power in the future, unless the winning party wins by more than 50%, an unlikely outcome in European elections with their multiple parties. Constitutions are written to be interpreted, let's hope they get it right this time.
(Amer, 10 June 2014 21:50)

Coalitions are usually formed after an election, not before. They're usually formed in the event of no single party gaining an overall majority. Coalitions are formed so that one block has a majority in Parliament. In no country is it compulsory for coalitions to be formed with the best performing party of the election, it just usually works out that way as they have the most seats. It makes sense for these three parties to form a coalition as they're all centre-right/ conservatives.

Oh no, Rambo as PM. LOL, it is rare to see an article with so many details on B92. I would not count Thaci out yet though. These are hours of intense negotiations and different alliances may emerge in the end. The US embassy's approval will also be needed in the end. Apart from Self Determination, everybody else cares about its blessing. If Haradinaj comes out as a PM, I would love to see Vucic and Dacic meet with him.

Constitutions are written to be interpreted, let's hope they get it right this time.

Thaci owes it to the country to take the case to court, just to clarify what the rules are, and all those involved owe the country prompt compliance with whatever the court decides.

who says that we don't need any of these? i've got news for you sweetheart, none of these existed when Serbia ruled roost, so before you try to act all so intellectual, perhaps you ought to put to use what few brain cells you have

I really can't say if Ramush Haradinaj is Muslim but since I believe I read somewhere on-line that his wife's name is Anita I always assumed she isn't Muslim simply because Anita doesn't sound like a Muslim name.

@Peggy:

Though it's thoughtful of you to condemn the actions of this hypothetical Serb passenger my question is what do you mean by "your opinion"?? I'm not sure how to tell you this but I can't be blamed for the actions of some of my fellow Canadians.You agree? Right?
