Far from being some 'new Stalin or Hitler, the sort of shoddy and threadbare historical cliches always trotted out by those with a limited understanding of history Putin has outsmarted the Western wind breakers in Crimea without even firing a shot.The usual, somewhat infantile, complaints about Putin not realising that the 21st century has no room for 'spheres of interest' is simple Neo liberal propaganda. All the major states , whether in the EU post modern imperium or not, regard Ukraine as their backyard and a land they should have dominance over.Putin's smart diplomacy can be seen clearly in terms of exposing the inherent weakness of the EU. The unelected Ashton and Rumpey proclaim the EU stance bolstered by the touching naivety of Kerry who constantly refers to the EU as if it were a 'nation' state with a commom foreign policy whereas in reality Germany,France & Uk pursue their own national interests whilst in the EU but often in opposition to the meanderings of Ashton and co.
John Kerry representing a country which makes Genghis Khan look like a wimp when it comes to illegal invasions recently said “You just don’t, in the 21st century, behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pretext”, he pontificated on CBS.Law was disregarded in Yugoslavia in 1999, bombed by NATO with no UN mandate, Afghanistan, Iraq. Perversion of the UN Resolution on Libya, which was for a no fly zone, not bombing the country in to submission.

LOL! Someone's imagination is running a little wild. Is this newsworthy? In fact, it is NATO who has the intention of taking over Russia, China and every other country it sees as a threat. At least there is evidence of that.

There are a lot of themes to show the real situation in Ukraine. How Maidanized bandits rob people and businessmen , how terrified are maidan supporters in Kiev , how terrible is the economics , how Russian leaders in the east are arrested , how US embassy launched an attack against the out of use Pravi Sector , how Grey Stone ( ex- Blackwater) is involved in the war against the Nazi , how 4 times increased the salary of the militaries to join the Russian army , how Poroshenko is playing the Russian roulette to escape his inevitable bankruptcy , how Spilna Sprava seized 100% of the election committees countrywide , how the mobilization complain failed when the only 3000 draftees try to run away , how they gather money through 5 Grivna sms , how oligarchs use football fun clubs as their striking force ect. I guess there are much more important things to discuss than paying so much attention to the traitors like Illarionov , Kalugin , Gordievsky. Every nation has traitors but the do not deserve so much advertisement. Otpor Serbians played their ugly role during Orange riot in 2004 , during Maidan , in Tbilisi , in Kirgizia. But we do not tie them with the brother nation of ours. Russian saying В СЕМЬЕ НЕ БЕЗ УРОДА is used for people like Illarionov. And here we quit with it.

Why doesn't Putin annex Serbia also? The Kosovo Serbs wanted to be annexed, yet Putin refused? Why is it when the US/Nato/EU start phoney wars in the name of democracy and impose their will on small countries it's acceptable however, when Russia does the same, the double standards surface. I personally would LOVE to see Russia expand its horizons and have a significant influence worldwide. We can't let the duplicitous Americans run the world. First and foremost, I think it is hard to predict what Putin’s real plans are and if he even has such a clear planned ambition as the US government and all it's henchmen recently have started to 'warn' everybody about.

What I do know is that the imperialistic nature of NATO is something that can easily be demonstrated by looking at it's endeavors around the world. Even if Russia has similar ambitions, which it very well could have, it still pales in comparison by scale and severity in terms of it's efforts and crimes committed in such pursuits.

The more interesting question though, is why exactly did the former chief economical adviser of Putin ended up being a senior fellow of the Cato Institute’s Center for Global Liberty and Prosperity. Isn't this just yet another US propaganda think-tank with a colorful euphemistic name, trying to give itself credibility by using terms like liberty, prosperity and democracy?

"A quasi-academic think-tank which acts as a mouthpiece for the globalism, corporatism, and neoliberalism of its corporate and conservative funders."

And goes on with saying:

Of course we should all just believe that whatever the Cato institute says and that they will never lie in order to pursue their US centric hegemonistic global agenda.

Some may see this as an ad homonym attack on Andrei Illarionov. Personally, I wouldn't even care if it was coming from Putin's own mother. If she would be working for the Cato institute I would not believe a single word that she had to say about Putin, because that institute's interest are diametrically opposed to Russia's interest.

Russia does the same? Sorry, I don't know a country/territory the US has annexed in the last decades. And the EU cannot 'annex' anything, they can admit new member states, but the territorial integrity of the states will stay. And unlike Russia who seized Ukrainian gas resources in the black sea as one of the first steps, the USA didn't seize oil resources in Iraq, unlike some people continue to claim that this was the reason for the Iraq invasion.

Of course, everybody knows that Serbs are very patient people and it's nothing for them to wait for 500 years to get Kosovo back around the year 2508. Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union collapsed for a reason; if you want to recreate them, good luck, but we know in advance what their fate will be. Just make sure that when the time for that fate comes, you're left with the same land as today
