Signs in Serbian Cyrillic damaged again

The Cyrillic script is something to be proud of. It looks beautiful and exotic. Why can´t the Croatian people accept signs written in Cyrillic? Shame on you! Serbia is better than Croatia.

Once a chetnik always a chetnik like 99.9% of serbs.

Albanian's have nothing to do with this, why mention them......also why dont u learn to write in proper alphabet, then ur signs wont be taken down

Both Albanians and Croats were Hitler's blood-drinking savage henchmen in the Balkans. While the Albanian and Croat Nazis were busy chasing Serb families and tending to concentration camps, the SS troops were busy tending to their lonely Nazi loving females. That's an easy one to answer. The Croats ran their own concentration camps during ww2 in order to exterminate
Serbs, Jews, Roma and others that they deemed inferior to them.
The cyrillic writing reminds them daily that they failed to fully accomplish what they set out to do.
Also, instead of repenting, the Croat Nazis openly celebrate their concentration camp human atrocities in concerts with songs where regular folk attend along with (not too long ago) politicians with their wives and children. Scary ha?
Croats who don't repent will always have to defend their monstrous past against humanity and live an evil secretive lie like the happy Ustasha priests and their altar boys until they join Cardinal Stepinac and the rest of their evildoers.

My friends love my CYRILLIC tee-shirt. They all want one. It says CPbIJA on it. They don't know what it means until I tell them, but they still want one even when they do. These Croats should be grateful that we gave them a language to copy and speak and stop this childish and mindless vandalism.

This is crazy. Civilized countries have a great degree of tolerance. It doesn't mean everybody loves everybody, it just means we tolerate everyone and diversity. In the US, we see Muslim women wearing veils all around. Even in my Catholic University, we have African American Muslim women and other foreign Muslim women wearing veils to classes. I know that there are Americans with horrific views about Muslims, yet in general they say nothing and they certainly don't go around tearing down signs in Arabic. That's tolerance. Croatia has a lot to learn.

Serbs need to concentrate on gaining employment and not spend all day lazing around drinking coffee and worrying about where they want cyrillic signs to be put up. Don't they understand that nobody wants the signs, nobody can read the signs and certainly nobody wants the signs erected in Vukovar where Chetnik hordes devasted the city and massacred those that remained. Even the E.U wont save the Serbs on this one ! Other minorities have no problem excepting Croatia as their home but the Serbs keep pushing the boundaries. Let me remind you people that you live in Croatia and not some Graeter Serbia for heavens sake.

I find some comments here pretty funny, especially the comments that include the words "civilized countries" in reference to Croatia while you are Serbian.

A few weeks ago I read an article on "wife beaters" in Serbia and the fact that women there do not have rights or protection by authorities when they are brutally beaten, "civilized" you say?

One thing is to claim Croatians are uncivilized because they DO NOT and WILL NOT accept cirilica...would any Serb accept a similar case if it were a Serbian town where many people have yet been brought to justice and the wounds of the brutal Serb attack are still fresh? Just remember one key point and this may clarify why the topic is so sensitive...lets remove emotions and try to stay factual. Slobodan Milosevic openly said that Vukovar was held for 6 months while 6000 (it was less than 2000 but I will stay with his comment) Croats defended. We Serbs utilized over 100 tanks, 30,000 troops, the Air Force....

If Milosevic openly admitted this and Croats feel sensitive towards cirilica and do not want it there, why is that so hard to understand? If on the other hand Croats were targeting Serb civilians, mistreating them and discriminating against them for being Serbian, I would easily request intervention and request the Croatian government take action. On the topic of cirilica, I think the Serb minority should learn to live with the Latin alphabet and move on...or move, pretty simple!

It's not Serbs in Croatia that need to refocus their daily schedule but the vast army of poor, broke, uneducated, and nearly homeless "war veterans" who have decided to make this a political issue to get attention and probably a warm meal from HDZ and HSP politicos who probably promised them something for showing up. I don't recall Croatian Serbs spending their entire day making Cyrillic an issue for the inhabitants of Uneventful Nasa. This is an EU-sponsored initiative because Croatia needs to respect minority and cultural rights of everyone living in their allegedly beautiful domovina. Rather, we should rephrase your carefully crafted response to:

"Croats need to concentrate on gaining employment and not spend all day mulling around deserted town squares in Eastern Slavonia destroying public property because they believe the horror stories from Catholic priests and Thompson their country is under siege from Serbs and gays."

I don't expect some American of loose Croatian connections to understand that. Thankfully I and other non-Stormfront.com users of the Internet are here to help you. I'd like to think the people who actually LIVE in Croatia have a better handle on the situation than you.

It's a double-edged sword. On one hand, and in the interests of the greater good, this sort of thing should be condemned by the authorities as the war is over and it is time to look forward, but given the hell that Vukovar was put through, the destruction and death that both sides felt, it is nothing strange that something like this happens and that the Croats feel this kind of sentiment. The wound are still very deep and not properly healed yet, given many of those people actually saw the war and its effects.

All that both sides need is time. It will come right one day and both sides will be able to forgive each other, but for time, it is to be expected that some spite will remain.
