"Always - someone else is at fault. What a dumb comment.

Those who encouraged and joined the Ustasha – Croat fascists/Nazi-puppet state - are personally responsible for creating the murderous Ustasha regime.

Wish more Serbians were like you. Being angry at the bad people, not generalizing and hating an entire nation because of those bad people!

And you Ustasha created the revenge that brought on Vukovar.

You reap what you sow too.
(Sieg Fail, 19 November 2013 02:41)

And now the citizens of Vukovar are upset that Cyrillic is being implemented in a town that was devastated by aggressors who used the very alphabet. And so are taking to the streets.

You reap what you sow. You see, this cycle will go on forever so can we break the cycle and grow up?

We are brothers, we are the same blood, same language, same food, etc... croats and serbs are the same people... the sooner we realize that and stop hating each other the quicker we can ask ourselves who is it that wants us to hate each other? Ask youself in who's interest it is for us to be divided???

Agree, but I think that these comments should not be removed. It is far better that people like Bam Bam and Lenard have a platform than to remove it for them because at least we can see what we are dealing with. Once you push something underground it's harder to defend against it.

No Srebrenica wasn't genocide, it's what you Serbs call a "PICNIC". To kill 8,000 innocent men and boys as young as 12 in a 24 hour time frame is Genocide.
========================
Maybe you should look up the term genocide and see what it really means.

Muslims have men and boys fighting so anyone holding a gun and then turns that gun against a Serbs is fair game.
Do you even know how many Serbs were slaughtered by these "boys" prior to Serbs having to go in and take care of business?
Do you? Maybe you just don't care but if you did you would call that genocide because innocent villagers were being slaughtered and yes that means kids younger than 12, women and elderly.
Now that's genocide but since the US was on the Muslim side and your side they will not call it that.

Bam Bam why don't you just go away? You are a racist, revolting irritant.

@njegos.... … You talk about Partizan leadership. Alexander Rankovic ordered the Blieburg massacre and guess what he's a Serb. He ran all the concentration camps like Goli Otok and ordered the torture of thousands post WW2. I sometimes wander do the Serbs on this site actually know their own sadistic history.
====================================

The Communists die a lot of bad stuff to the Serbs mainly. Yes, they got some others but it was the Serbs who suffered the most after WW2. You Croatians did well.

Horrible thing is that some Serbs committed crimes against their brothers and sisters while most Croatians stuck together. So if you think that we revere people like Rankovic you are wrong. Tito's mob is not dear to us either.

@Roger.... FYI》 I don't speak for all Croats. My opinions are mine only. Must I remind you that Tito's tomb lay in Serbia. Croatia would never polish the tomb of a sell out. Rest assure the Serbs in Croatia will never live in peace. The Serbs need to get used to not eating Lamb as they once did during Serb lead YU. Its mutton from now on.

Bam bam - Your attempt to paint communist Yugoslavia as a Serb entity is comical. Were there ethnic Serbs within the communist power structure and ranks? Yes there were. But for you, HSP and other Croat historical revisionists to try and portray Yugoslav communism as some sort of Serbian movement, is laughable. Tito, an ethnic Croat born in Croatia was the undisputed communist dictator of Yugoslavia for 35 years. His right-hand man was an ethnic Slovene, Edvard Kardelj who wrote the communist constitution of Yugoslavia. And let us not forget the father of modern-day Croatia, Franjo Tudjman was a disciple of communism before showing his true fascist colors.

Truth be told, the majority of Croats embraced Hitler's Nazis with the formation of Ante Pavelic's Ustasha. When it was inevitable that they were going to lose the war, thousands and thousands of Ustasha jumped ship and joined Tito's Partizans, thereby swelling their ranks toward the end of the war. Any way you cut it, the Croats fought on the wrong side of history. They were either communists or fascist butchers. In true Croat fashion, many were both as they conveniently switched sides to ensure they were on the winning side. Nice legacy.

And I find it interesting that you, Bam bam, allege and condemn Serbian atrocities after saying that Croatians should have dug the pits deeper during WWII to insure that the massacred Serbs by Croats would have never been found. Appalling.

No Srebrenica wasn't genocide, it's what you Serbs call a "PICNIC". To kill 8,000 innocent men and boys as young as 12 in a 24 hour time frame is Genocide. It sure is easier to do than accept responsibility for the worst atrocities in Europe since WW2.

Why would we?It has passed 70 years since ww2 and you still have not accepted responsibility for Jasenovac nor punished the ones that committed horrible crimes towards serbs instead you repeated them during the nineties to try to finish off what your ancestors started. Your way of accepting responsibility is hundreds of thousands every year going to Cavoglave and celebrating the Ustasa leaders.

Daniel

pre 10 godina

The Serbs love to play the game of innocence when in fact they are guilty of genocide beyond belief. Serbs mention Jasenovac, but what have they learnt from it= nothing. What did they did in Srebrenica was sadistic.

As a croat you shouldnt even mention Srebrenica considering what you did at JASENOVAC, dont u have any shame at all? Do you really compare 8000 with hundreds of thousands? Are you really that insane? You have not learned anything from Jasenovac and if you got the opportunity Even the germans were sickened by the methods you used at Jasenovac, you even had a concentration camp for CHILDREN. How sick and deluded does someone have to be to have concentration camps for kids?

Daniel

For HSP, Jasenovac, the cruelest deathcamp in ww2.
From August 1941 to April 1945, hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews, and Romas, as well as anti-fascists of many nationalities, were murdered at the death camp known as Jasenovac. Estimates of the total numbers of men, women and children killed there range from 300,000 to 700,000.

This is GENOCIDE, not Srebrenica.

njegos

pre 10 godina

HSP - Tell the Croats that live peacefully next to Serbs and Hungarians in Vojvodina that you think they should pack their bags and and head for Croatia because segregation works.

Also your comment about Serbs massacring Croatian Ustasha at Bleiburg is shameful. You forgot to mention that the father of Yugoslav communism was Tito, who was half Croatian and half Slovenian. That massacre was carried out by communist Partizans under the leadership of Tito. And the Partizan ranks were populated by many, many Croatians. So what you had at Bleibug, to a large extent was Croats killing Croats, led by Croats. Nice try.

HSP 1861

pre 10 godina

Anti Communists killed at Blieburg was an absolute tragedy. The Serbs under YU have wiped the 100, 000 dead under the carpet. Mass graves are all over Northern Slovenia. The Serbs love to play the game of innocence when in fact they are guilty of genocide beyond belief. Serbs mention Jasenovac, but what have they learnt from it= nothing. What did they did in Srebrenica was sadistic. Video footage shows Serb soldiers lining up 14 year old boys and gunning them down like dogs. May I add that no ethnic group are angels in the Balkan region. The biggest problem we have today is that both governments don't know how to move forward because of the past. In my opinion segregation is the only answer. It works well in RS it can work well in Croatia.

From generations: "To accept responsibility for action is too frightening to face. Tht is the fundametal problem of (most of) Serbia" Serbia has accepted a great deal of responsibility as opposed to Croatia. Serbia has turned over and prosecuted its war criminals and cooperated with the War Crimes Tribunal much more than Croatia. Croatia has been cited for dragging its heels on the in prosecuting war criminals. At its current pace, it will take the Croat gov't. 130 years to deliberate their current case load. but they can assemble an army of legal experts to press the case of genocide against the Serbs. Where is Croatia facing its responsibilities?

And you ask: "Is 80,000 not enough?" No, it's not enough. It's hard to find a Serb alive who didn't have a relative killed by the Ustasha. Deflating the numbers minimizes the crimes that were committed. Serbia has yet to receive a formal apology from Croatia and the Catholic Church for their roles in WWII. Time to face your RESPONSIBILITY.

From generations: "your behavior is what brought everything you have on you." Croatia brought this war on. They armed themselves to the teeth, then violated the Yugoslav constitution and broke international law by prematurely seceding. Croatia chose war and they got it.

Now you have a country that is 94% Croatian. Less diversity than any country in Europe. Croats living in Serbia live there peacefully. But Serbs in Croatia fear for their lives. Tell me, where is the real problem?

generations

pre 10 godina

To accept responsibility for action is too frightening to face. Tht is the fundametal problem of (most of) Serbia. With the exception of some amazing individuals and groups (Zene U Crnom! who are ashamed of what Serbs have done in Vukovar), most of Serbia lives in denial and shifts the 1990s attrocities conversation immediately to WW2. And then they cheapen their own argument by inflating numbers of Serbs killed. Is 80,000 not enough? It needs to be 500,000 to make your argument? Or better 1 million? Historic data confirmed about 80-100,000...is that not enough? It sure is easier to do than accept responsibility for the worst atrocities in Europe since WW2.

There is no international conspiracy against Serbia, your behavior is what brought everything you have on you. nato didn't bomb Serbia because of conspiracy, the embargo was not a conspiracy, the war crimes convictions are not a conspiracy, zene u Crnom are not a conspiracy. Milan Babic confessing and regretting atrocities is not a conspiracy. You did bad. Now accept it and learn from it, otherwise you'll be stuck in this terrible state for a long time.

PS: I am a non-extremist Croat, (born long after WW2) 1) I am saddened and ashamed by Jasenovac and that dark part of Croatian history. I wish it would have never happened. 2) Most Croatians don't hate Serbs and are not violent, and dont vote for HSP. 3) Vukovar is a shameful episode for Serbia, and a symbol of freedom for Croatia. Deal with it.

Patriotism is on the rise in Croatia, thanks to true Croats like Thompson and the HDZ / HCSP.
(Bam Bam, 19 November 2013 01:06)

LOL are you serious dude? It's clear you've never lived in Croatia, but have you ever even BEEN there? This is a knee-jerk reaction to what's in store for Croatia now that it's part of the EU and has to behave like a civilized state. The "patriotism" you speak of is known as "racism" and "fascism" in more intelligent circles and no intelligent Croat would ever associate with these people. Thompson plays to the expat community and visiting Gastarbejeteri who come to Croatia on holiday and act all big and mighty in a "homeland" they were never born in. He can barely muster a crowd of over 1000 and his "fans" have to be bused in from the outside and largely comprise the seljacine of society. More Croats listen to Ceca than that washed up has-been "patriot". If you ever lived in Croatia, you'd know that this is the last gasp of a thankfully dying breed of people. As far as I'm concerned, they can drag the HDZ down with them into political oblivion.

Typical claptrap from an angry expat nationalist who thinks he's more Croatian than the people who live there.

Bam bam - I think you should be called to testify on behalf of the Croatian's gov't's. genocide trial against the Serbs. Your neanderthal and racist attitude will certainly help their cause. (LOL) I'm quite sure the overwheling majority of Croats are just as racist as you, however, you're dumb enough to voice it. Again, no one ever accused Croats of being smart. It's no wonder you people have always been ruled by others: Austro-Hungarians, Germans, Serbs (that really burns you guys) and now the US and Germany again.

John Lucic

pre 10 godina

The Serbs living in Croatia do not accept or recognize Croatian sovereignty, especially in eastern Slavonia, Baranja, and the Krajina. Croats are fooling themselves if they think otherwise. Thus, Croats must make the situation for Serbs living in Croatia incredibly inhospitable until all Serbs living in Croatia understand and accept Croatia's right to exist within the existing borders. However, it would be preferable and easier if the Serbs simply leave Croatia forever! All Serbs should live in Serbia. Slobodan Milosevic was absolutely right on the that point. The Serbian government must also accept responsibility for the current impasse, which they won't because the Serbs are always victims in their minds, their culture, and their religion. So be it! Get out of Croatia, or respect the will of the majority. You reap what you sow! Amen.

(Lenard, 18 November 2013 14:45)

And Serbia is taking Croatia to the trial for ethnically cleansing 400 000 serbs and killing more than 750 000 civilians at Jasenovac so you can compare the numbers of victims in Vukovar to the number of victims at Jasenovac and you will clearly see who committed a genocide. Fasist and Nazi croats of course.

From Marko: "Remember Serbia, you created the Ustasa by persecuting Croats from the late 1800's till 1995." The Serbs created the Ustasha? That's the first time I've heard that one, and I've heard a lot of outrageous comments from revisionist Croats like yourself. The truth is that the Croats couldn't wait to join Yugoslavia after they were defeated soundly in WWI. The Serbs naively took the Croats in. From day one, the Croats tried to sabotage the country. Serbs should have never accepted them into the country and should have let them suffer a losers fate after aligning themselves with their German masters.

Also from Marko: "You reap what you sow." You're exactly right Marko. The Croats armed themselves to the teeth and then illegally broke the Yugoslav constitution and violated international law by prematurealy seceding. Croatians wanted war and they got it. Vukovar was leveled. Too bad. Many Croats were driven from Bosnia after Tudjman's Herceg Bosna, aka, Greater Croatia failed. Too bad. Croats are still leaving Bosnia today. Too bad. As a result, the Serbs wound up with half of Bosnia, aka Republika Srpska. You can thank your nationalist politicians for that. You reap what you sow Marko.

Its funny you mention the 1/3 ratio because thats exactly what happened to Croats in Yugoslavia after the war. Croats not allowed to practice Catholicism, Croats not allowed to even call themselves Croats. The mass exodus of Croats in Bosnia(Historically Croatian Territory). The plundering of State budget to basically fund Yugoserbia as a whole.

Its funny that Serbs claim 400,000-1.5 million deaths in WW2 Croatia, when the census after the war only shows 150,000k deaths of Serbs and most of those were combat soldiers in conflict. Tito caught in the 60's lying about census results to garner more funds from Germany.

Lenard - Once again, you have it wrong. But that's nothing new. For those that know history, these criminal acts by Croats against the Serbs are a continuation of their long stated goal to create an ethnically pure Croatia. Mile Budak, Minister of Education in WWII Croatia stated that 1/3 of the Serbs should be killed, 1/3 converted to Catholicsm and 1/3 exiled. The Croatian clergy eagerly participated in the killing orgy that followed. Hundreds of catholic priests were named as war criminals.

We see now that not much has changed in Croatia. Ironically, as the Croats try to drive the remaining Serbs from Croatia, they are in court claiming genocide against the Serbs. But it's eventually a losing battle for these so called "patriots" in Croatia and they know it. This whole circus in Вуковар has more to do with these people once again feeling ignored and neglected than actually believing an alphabet is anti-Croatian (though hearing the comments from some, especially the expats in the US who troll incessantly online are the predicted exception).

Eventually these people are going to become too much of an embarrassment for the Croatian government, who in some way have created them over the years by neglecting most areas of Croatia outside Zagreb and tourist-dependent Dalmatian coast. Вуковар has been a dead city since its liberation. There's nothing there. No investment, no life, and nothing to prevent the youth from moving away. On the issue of Croat clergymen, well after WW2 there were 600 Franciscan Friars alone wanted for war crimes so little has changed, but it now has put the Catholic Church between a rock and a hard place with NGOs raising this issue in that if the Vatican remains silent or does not react positively the current Pope will be viewed in the same light as Pius 12th or better known as Hitler’s Pope.

Appalling.

Nice try.

These acts have now clearly cemented in the minds of many EU members that Serbs had to take up arms against fascists Croats. In fact even their traditional Nazi mates in Berlin have put a great deal of distanced between themselves and Zagreb.

But it's eventually a losing battle for these so called "patriots" in Croatia and they know it. They're marginalized and ignored in almost all aspects of Croatian political life, so they cling to dead and outdated soft-core fascist rhetoric of the Tudjman era for identity.

These recent acts will really help the Croatian case against the Serbs. But then again, no one ever accused the Croats of being smart. LOL

I wonder why this is happening any clue. Maybe occupied Croatia [link] by greater expansionist war mongering Serbia. Devasted 25% of Croatia, thousands murdered still thousands missing city of Vukovar desroyed more bombs fell on it then Stalingrad of WW2. That is why Croatia is taking the criminal Serbia to court.

@ Daniel...Srebrenica wasn't genocide.

No Srebrenica wasn't genocide, it's what you Serbs call a "PICNIC". To kill 8,000 innocent men and boys as young as 12 in a 24 hour time frame is Genocide. Maybe the word "Genocide" doesn't exist in the Serb dictionary. Give it up Serbia, you're just as sadistic and mental as your neighbours, plain and simple.

Za dom nema!

Don't worry Roger, it's already happening. Anyone with enough kune and a dream is getting out of Croatia and looking for work elsewhere. These empty threats from diasporas are more funny than threatening since "the situation for Serbs living in Croatia [being] incredibly inhospitable ...." is no different for the children of kings Tomislav, Zvonimir, and Tudjman :)

Nice try.

Tell me, where is the real problem?

njegos

Appalling.

Bam Bam

========================

There is something terrible wrong with an individual who thinks these sociopathic comments are permissible in society.

Agree, but I think that these comments should not be removed. It is far better that people like Bam Bam and Lenard have a platform than to remove it for them because at least we can see what we are dealing with. Once you push something underground it's harder to defend against it.

====================================
