We are grateful, guys.

Incidentally, the tear gas canisters hit the Serbian Embassy in Ankara tonight. It's almost 01:00 and the clashes continue.

I don't get your comment at all Peggy. It sounds totally thoughtless to me.
Besides, they are environmentalists not chetniks.

The fact that you don't understand my post doesn't mean that it's meaningless.
Who mentioned chtniks? What are you on?
Do you have a problem with chetniks? Maybe it's your post not making sense.

Theocratic state?! That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life. Who in Serbia is pushing for this even covertly? This is the height of insanity. Your kind- the ultra liberals have ran Serbia for the past 13 years and even today those who were pretending to be on the "opposition" are running those same exact policies.

And now that way of thinking has FAILED. So now that you have no one else to blame you invent threats that are not there. Inventing an enemy because you have nothing else to really show for the kind of Serbia your kind thought they were going to live in.

Serbia and Turkey face similar social tensions in their respective societies.

Turkey, on one hand, you have an officially secular state that is creeping into islamism. This is what the protests are mostly about (against creeping islamism)

Serbia, as well, as forces that would be happy to push Serbia into being some kind of theocratic state with the Church having more of a say in politics.

Conservative Serbs could learn a lot from Turks in this regard. No one in Turkey (even the islamists) would disparage their opponents' "turkishness" or patriotism. In fact, many religious muslims are on the side of the protesters and support the principle of official secularism.

It's asking too much, I know.

LOL so instead of actually organizing a rally for Serbia of the same kind, you hold a rally in support of a completely foreign struggle which you know nothing about?

Ari, sometimes a demonstration of kindred spirit is all that's needed-a simple point you both seem to miss.
