Well there was some good things that Milosevic did and many things that he did bad.. For the most part like some other blogger stated, all the pre Serbian leaders in the 90's were just like Milosevic but worse. Everyone of them was money hungry and told the people what they wanted to hear. But at the same time, at least he tried to do something with Kosovo.

For the most part, milosevic had nothing to do with the bosnia/croatia war. He did not even send the serbian national army there and did not give a crap. When all the serbs came running from bosnia/croatia to Serbia, they were not even excepted. Very similar to what is happening today. Central Serbia is still stuck in Communism and they are stuck holding their hipster noses high.

I agree with many of the criticisms about the EU here but, no one, ever, can proclaim Milosevic a good Serbian leader. and someone who was good for the State and people of Serbia. He, and his commie wife, Mira, are single-handedly responsible for more destruction to the Serbian State and people than maybe even the Ottomans. Well, not, but for dramatic effect, he was close. Here we are 13 years after his exit, and where is Serbia today? They are on their knees before the Western powers in Brussels, regardless of what Dacic spews for Tanjug daily. There is a reason why Milosevic was given the name, :Butcher of the Balkans", he butchered not only his opponents, but his own people as well - and the Serbian people are still trying to save themselves today - unfortunately, we have his minions in power again today. Man, when will Serbia learn, when?

Croatia is now in the same position with their politicians telling their constituents that Nirvana will be achieved once they join and 11 billion Euros falls from the sky. Boy have they a surprise waiting for them. sj I voted for you those fools. Even worse sj the annual fees to the club are going up because a lot of dead beet members like the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua9DN8ZXmOw you can check out but can never leave. The rest of you lay off my friend Ari Gold he is initiated to his opinion even though its wrong.

Milosevic was definitely a bad leader and a traitor of his people since he signed the Dayton agreement along with Izetbegovic and Tundzman thinking that thus he would have guaranteed impunity by the Americans for his actions. Three years later he was once again the butcher of the Balkans and that says a lot about his insight. However his extradiction to the Hague on June 28 (symbolic date for the Serbs) his death in the hands of the tribunal and especially the sell-out leaders who have succeded him (Djindjic, Tadic, Nikolic) have made him look like a hero and a martyr. In my eyes though every single jugoslav leader of the 90s era deserves nothing but contempt and historians should be really harsh in their judgements.

That is because B92 are controlling the photos. Obviously more people showed up but B92 will not show a photo of it. However, when it comes to Djindjic, a B92 favourite, they will show a photo at a particular angle to make it look like more people turned up but if you look at a photo from the top, you will see large gaps in the Djindjic turnout.

The only thing that puts him above Djindjic and the Otpor-ista's is the fact that he wasn't treasonous.
(Ari Gold, 12 March 2013 10:17)

That is incorrect - he ordered his own mentor to be killed. Hope for him, he has a fire-proof suit or two right now.

Milosevic deserves no honouring what so ever, the man cared only for his own interests and he is responsible for the fall of Krajina, he allowed the Croats to conduct the cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Serbs while he caved in over Kosovo. What a poor choice Serbia was left with when it came between Milosevic and Djindjic.

Sarah, maybe you haven't been following the crisis in the EU, and if you have it is surprising that you want Serbia to be part of that disaster. Serbia is not secluded, you seem to think that because it hasn't quite become a tool of the EU that means seclusion, as if the EU is the only thing Serbia can interact with. Serbia has singed a major gas deal with Russia and the construction of a pipeline is taking place in Serbia, not to mention there is growing Chinese interest in Serbia. I don't think you are clear of the reality here.

Serbia was secluded because it was destined to be broken up into little pieces with Belgrade and a couple of kilometres around it called Serbia. Croatia Slovenia are prime examples of the good life until mother EU ran out of cash then these guys started to live off the share they got from the breakup of Yugoslavia and today both spent their last penny.
Now what have they got? Slovenia has demonstrations daily on the fall of living standards- - Don’t forget Slovenia has been in the EI for a number of years now. Croatia is now in the same position with their politicians telling their constituents that Nirvana will be achieved once they join and 11 billion Euros falls from the sky. Boy have they a surprise waiting for them.
There is no coming into the Renaissance once Serbia joins the EU. It’s all been an illusion – smoke and mirrors trick.

Oh please - it's time for Serbia to become part of Europe - what a stupid dream to think Milosovic was a great leader. Serbia has been secluded for so many years and it has proved to be a detriment for the people. The current change is what is needed to bring Serbia out of the dark ages.

Milosevic was from the communist class and was both politically and morally corrupt. The only thing that puts him above Djindjic and the Otpor-ista's is the fact that he wasn't treasonous. Even though he wasn't a nationalist he fought for Serbia's national interests. (and won before the strongest military alliance in the world intervened. But by themselves, Albanians, Croats, Bosniaks did not stand a chance.)
