There is no need for Vojvodina's autonomy, it isn't as if Serbia is a massive country where Vojvodina is so far away and isolated from Belgrade, rather the provincial line is barely north of Vojvodina. The idea of autonomy for Vojvodina was a communist one created only to minimize Serbian dominance as much as possible, that is the only reason why Kosovo had autonomy. I would be interested to see a very serious argument as to why Vojvodina should keep autonomy, so far there are none on this page other than people blindly hating on Dveri.

The movement held a debate in Novi Sad on Saturday which focused on “protection of Kosovo and abolition of Vojvodina’s autonomy”.

Me thinks these guys are big comedians. Kosova does not need protection from them , since it is protected by its own inhabitants. But, if they meant to preserve Kosova, than I say they are a big laughing stuck in this planet. While at it, they should try to scrap Kosova's Independence.

Dveri is right, Vojvodina was created as a province for Serbs in the Austrian empire.. It's now more then 160 years later and Vojvodina is part of Serbia that's why there is no need for extra Bureaucracy..
Serbia could instead of Vojvodina split the province in it's historical provinces: Srem, Banat, Backa And have more provinces in central serbia like Sumadija/Nis/Macva/Rashka/Branicevo etc.
Anyway Serbia is a small country and doesn't need a large government or autonomous provinces.

The only thing the regions of 'Vojvodina' have in common is they collectively but as separate regions joined the Kingdom of Serbia from Hungary. In what way do minorities benefit from this autonomy? well it should be scrapped because in the new census it shows 70% of vojvodina are serbs and all other minorites has dropped and that includes

hungrains went down from 290,000 to 245,000 and croats from 60,000 to 48,000 and and all other minorities have aged big time the mediate age now for hungarians are 48 years of age and croats are now 50 years of age and slovens and slovaks are now 54 years of age.this is new times and not from the 80a nor early 90s its 2012 and minroties are aging and dying out in vojvodina.

Maybee Serbia should model the country on smaller regional areas. Have a referendum allowing direct commercial and co-operative links between ie Backa and Sumadija or Branicevo and Banat bypassing alot of federal bureaucracy and payment for one less parliment. Efficient and streamlined regional councils attract more business orientated leaders and transperancy as opposed to larger state style structures that bring in the "whats in it for me" crowds. Maybee the pencil might be a good thing if it is given to the people to decide.

One place where autonomy (internationally protected) is well in place is Kosovo. However, a number of people keep misspelling it 'Kosova'. They will get over that one day as the land is not theirs, but is actually under temporary occupation by NATO forces.

I think this is a very delicate issue that should be dealt with caution. I too believe that having autonomous regions is a luxury for a country like Serbia and Vojvodina's autonomy is a remnant of the communist era. However its abolition would give foreign powers another excuse to intervene in Serbia once again. The fact that Serbia has the majority doesn't mean much because Serbs were also a majority in Montenegro and see what happened there. That's nonsense. The organ extracting case came much later, at the end/after the Kosovo conflict.
