"Comm. Parrisson must have had a stroke reading this. Is this the same OMV that would have bought NIS for "market value"? Probably, and then go on to gut the company and sell it piece by piece... "

Why should I? And why shouldn't Gazprom/their local subsidiary NIS buy some more gas stations in the neighboring countries? They have enough of money. But I'm sure NIS/Gazprom payed a reasonable market price to OMV, they don't give it away for some peanuts to please the Russians.

And, who knows, maybe the 'expand' strategy is part of the plan to push out Serbia from NIS, step by step. Gazprom already has the majority, and if they decide to increase the company capital, I doubt that the Serbian state has the money to follow, thus Gazprom's stake will rise further.

Turnover

49% of a turnover four to five times larger across more regional markets is always going to be better than 100% of a turnover in one. Short sightedness, control and greed impeeds this process. Remember that when the Chinese and Russian come to build the canals, roads and railways making Serbia an important hub. The NIS story is only the begining.

Face the FACTS bud, selling NIS to Gazprom (even if for low $) not only saved the company and its employees, but allowed it to grow and expand far more than OMV, MOL, Rompetrol, etc. could have.
