Peggy - You are absolutely right. This misrepresentation by a small group of people who just happen to write in the same way, all lower case, and make the same spelling errors is really becoming boring and embarrassingly transparent.

serbia must go on and forget kosovo anyway we lost kosova in 1999 so why are we still talkin nonsense...
(beograd, 24 June 2010 00:00)
====================

Can you please present yourself truthfully instead of signing with beograd when clearly you are Albanian.

Just writing KosovA gives you away. Think about it next time you want to misrepresent yourself.

'Scotland benefits well from being part of the UK'

Ian UK

It's a pity that England does not benefit from being part of the UK but is simply a milk cow and scapegoat for Britain's other nations.

It isn't necessary for you to tell anyone what you think, Ian UK. One can surmise it just by reading any UK Government policy statement or document on just about anything.

and i agree with him, i think serbs need to wake up and smell the truth out there,, saying that 80% of serb population know that anyway.

I can assure you there won't be a "Kosova" flag in sight. People who come from illegitimate entities can only compete under the Olympic flag (a bit like UNMIK-Kosovo). So much for Wordsworth's worthless words.

Frustration frustration. Sounds like someone is having a tantrum.
(Zoran, 22 June 2010 14:42)

Yeh Jeremic seems proper frustrated, just look at him repeating the same thing every week just because things aren't going his way.

Anyway, one should ask Wordsworth whether "Kosova" will be in the 2012 London Olympics flying their flag like all other independent states. I think we all know the answer to that.
(Zoran, 22 June 2010 19:06)

Yeh well I hope Serbia enjoys competing with all them independent states and UN members at the Olympics like Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Aruba, American Samoa, Bermuda, UK Virgin Isles, US Virgin Isles, Cook Islands and the Netherlands Antilles etc.

----------------
I am extremely curious of your reaction Mr Ambassador when Scotland declares independence. ;)
(Milan, 22 June 2010 22:23)

Less than 20% of Scots want independence. The last two PMs were Scottish, Scotland benefits well from being part of the UK. Also the SNP couldn't even get a majority in the Scottish Parliament and they only got 6 seats in the general election. Lib-Dems and Labour are much bigger in Scotland.

How many times does it have to stated to you that the other 22 countries have no objection to Serbia entering the EU?
Tell me which country has said they will not because of Kosovo?
Even Germany is supporting Serbia in this.
(Peggy, 22 June 2010 23:21)

Peggy
Nobody has nothing against countries entering EU. However they have stated many times that Kosovo is not the condition for progress of Serbia toward EU and not for Serbia entering EU. They said already they do not want to inherit second Cyprus issues.
Condition is good neighbour relations and for 22 members of EU Kosovo is neighbour of Serbia.

It should actually read the Ambassador for a past empire, Stephen Wordsworth said ……” Its always interesting that this man opens his mouth espousing views as if his comments matter.

It is also interesting to note that prior to this mess in Iraq and Afghanistan the country was calling itself the United Kingdom. However, since its solders began to dying for the stupidity of the US its now Great Britain – what’s great about no one know but its great.

“…..Wordsworth was also quoted as saying that none of the many EU officials he met with recently believe that “Kosovo’s government would accept returning Kosovo" under Serbia’s control”.

This means that Thaci et al are a real government – please give me a break and stop this gaga land fantasy. They live hand to mouth from the EU’s coffers and it they wont accept – lets be clear here it’s not the Albanians but the US that still thinks it rules the planet. I suppose McCrystal’s interview in Rolling Stone magazine tells you what the soldier on the frontline thinks about the Ivory tower advisers in Washington – I believe one policy advisor was referred to as a clown. The real purpose behind these statements is not to discredit Obama but that he is surrounded by dead wood that should be cleaning the White House not occupying it.

Oh yes Holbrook got a pasting and that’s because this man’s word in meaningless. McCrystal would really like someone like Dicky in negotiations with the enemy with a reputation that he does not keep his word. Karadjic has destroyed Dicky’s career completely and I have heard that Obama would like to get rid of him.

… to begin the ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia..”

Interesting how quickly the SAA is going to be ratified considering that 6 months ago it was rhetoric like “if Kosovo is not recognised plus Mladic in the Tribunal then no ratification of SAA”. Serbia has not recognised Kosovo nor has it handed over Mladic and the SAA is going to be ratified even by Holland. Where is Doris Pack now??????????? "I don't know which is more ridiculous; K. as an independent state or K. as part of Serbia." (miri)

-- Both seem pretty "ridiculous" right about now, and considering this argument has been going on for two years, I can bet we'll be here a year from now still trying to find an optimal middleground to both of these untenable situations.

"However one metric of "ridiculousness" could be as follows: Russia's single veto or US, Britain and France's veto(s), not to mention Japan and Germany who although without veto, have a lot of saying in int. affairs."

-- Well you know it only takes one veto to make or break the party and it looks like it's down to Russia or the US keeping things interesting. The rest are merely spectators. France isn't going to go out of its way if the US is playing first violin. As for Japan, when was the last time they went out of their way for Kosovo?

"As per China, rest assure it will never veto K. independence single handed."

-- Probably not, but like France they don't need to since Russia's got it.

Peggy

Sure about that?
China did something not long ago that previously was also unthinkable, presenting an oral argument in Serbia's favour at ICJ.

China wants to be a bigger influence now and this will be just one way to achieve that.
Miri, you are only hoping and looking at today's China realistically.

Everything said from a UK diplomate is without surprise and expected. He said nothing that moved the process forward what-so-ever, but by some interpretations, moved it back.

It's amazing that we have democratic nations advocating that compromise is a "dead issue" for Serbia. As the albanians are obviously pleased by these terms their masters have suggested, by no means is this the end of the process. It's a setback for Serbia when democracy and terms for compromise are sabotaged by London, Paris and Washington, but make no mistake, Serbia is in this for the long haul. Are you? Time is on our side for history proves this to be the case. Tick tock tick tock.

Only true until the Lisbon Treaty comes into force when Enlargement becomes QMV.

Of course I will not ignore the very real possibilities that other means of blocking countries from joining will be used as a form of veto, notably if member states take a subjective view to fulfilling entry criteria even if the Commission's reports are clear. "Kosovo’s independence is a fact, whether someone likes it or not,” the British envoy in Serbia told daily Blic.

-- But Kosovo's sovereignty is not, and to continue pushing such claims leads the West not only to dead ends with Belgrade but to unkept promises to Pristina. Moreover, 2/3 of the world would question Kosovo's independence as fact. He can repeat the statement as many times as he likes, but it it doesn't look like a duck or walk like a duck, it ain't no duck.

Rather than thinking a "compromise" means returning Kosovo entirely to Serbia (which as much as I'd like I can't see that happening), why not consider a number of other options that addresses Pristina's indefinitely limited hold on sovereignty and gives some concessions to Belgrade by way of recognizing their continued hold on authority in the Serb municipalities. By constantly refusing any and all negotiations and continuing to hold to this ridiculous notion that Kosovo is a state equal to Serbia and other neighboring countries, Wordworth only looks like another neo-colonialist with a poor degree of rhetoric.

Kosovo will never be independent, and is irreversibly blocked, that is a fact Mr. Wordsworth, deal with it. Another fact, your UK government is bankrupt, and you are no longer an emipire but a small island. He speaks like a blue-blooded Englander who still believes that his country rules the waves not realizing it did so by waiving the rules.Fair play and third country rights never entered into equation.

Having bended international law in order to suit their own political agendas mr Wordsworth is telling Serbia to accept the partition of its territory, thus legitimitizing the West's blunder, for the sake of some future membership of a bankrupt club called EU.

One can clearly see the whole process of kosovo recognitions has come to a standstill and the West needs Serbia's help to rekindle it.

It is only a 'fact' by a minority of UN Member States and certainly not the whole EU. Wordsworth himself is being economical with the so-called 'facts'.

This whole thing about presenting it as an 'inevitability' is rubbish. That's what Hitler and others before believed.

Enough of his blackmail diplospeak.

Wordsworth said that Belgrade "did not have to solve the Kosovo question in order to become a candidate for EU membership".

...but it must recognized kosovo to become an EU ms? That is what he is saying and is clearly the UK's unofficial position, though it doesn't have the guts to say it publicly.

Wordsworth pretends to speak on behalf of the EU when he is only a representative of but the UK government. If the brits are so desperate to have Kosovo independent, then they can subsidize it just like the rest of the SFRY did for decades because it is an economic basket case. But the UK can't as they officially run out of money after this afternoon's budget which will devastate many people's lives. They won't have any money left to sponsor their foreign adventures.

Wordsworth sounded desperate about Kosovo's status now. He just talked about it on June 5th as reported by B92. Kosovo will never be independent, and is irreversibly blocked, that is a fact Mr. Wordsworth, deal with it. Another fact, your UK government is bankrupt, and you are no longer an emipire but a small island. Aleks

pre 15 godina
