why are all you people saying that croats want to separate from BiH?.... that is not what they're asking for, they're asking for their own entity within BiH, that will still function together with sarajevo.
The republika srpska already have their entity, but want to separate from BiH. croats are not asking to separate from BiH, but only from the muslim-croat federation

The Bosniaks should take this article with a “grain of salt.” This is all wind and nothing else. The EU/US will never allow the Croats to separate from the Federation and create a separate entity. With the fear of RS leaving Bosnia, and there are a lot of EU countries that have come to terms with this fact and even some within the US administration, the Croats would cause an even bigger problem for the administration of the region.

Also the Croats are not strong enough to leave the Bosnian Federation – they require a “big brother” to support them such as Germany or the US. It is a fact that Croats are leaving Bosnia in droves and this gesture is a means of trying to stem that outflow with a promise of a separate entity and then possibly hinting later at joining Croatia. At the rate the Croats are departing Bosnia they will be a minority by 2012 so Leo Pločkinić is talking through “his hat”.

I read with amusement comments about how the Bosniaks should have gone with the Serbs. In fact even Colonel Gaddafi of Lybia told the Bosnian leadership to stay with the Serbs, but they listened to the US.

But who are we talking about here? Parts of the Bosnian Serb leadership were crazy, and we all know what Milosevic was like. What kind of choice was that?
(bganon, 3 February 2010 17:33)
--
The choice was the Lisbon agreement and it was signed by all three parties to prevent war. The Muslim side changed their mind and all hell broke loose. Here is a reminder - check http://www.deltax.net/bissett/western/bosnia.htm

We all know what Clinton and Blair are about also and the Croatian and Bosnian leadership were no better. The chance for peace was lost, not because of the Serbs.

Sandro, what do you mean we gave the Serbs 50%of our land. The land census before the war showed that 66% of Bosnia's landowners were Serb, so get your facts right. They owned the land because most muslim slavs, yes, that is what you are, by the way even Izetbegovic described himself as a muslim Serb, lived in the towns and cities. This was because those who converted to Islam during Ottoman rule were better educated and more accepted by the Ottoman rulers. Now, i am of Serbian origin i don,t hate anyone my family were not engaged in the conflicts in the 1990's. Everyone knows it was the Germans, Americans who destroyed Yugoslavia which for all it's faults had far less racism, violence and anti semitism that goes on today in the ex Yugoslav republics. The only multi ethnic state is surprisingly Serbia. It is your Politician's who have made the Serb,Croatian people feel unwanted and alien in the land of their birth.

I also feel sorry for Sandro. Its easy to say that Bosnian Muslums should have backed Serbs from the beginning or supported remaining in Jugoslavija. But who are we talking about here? Parts of the Bosnian Serb leadership were crazy, and we all know what Milosevic was like. What kind of choice was that?

And how to support, for example an ordinary muslum in Sarajevo, the men who are bombing you from the hills? Oh, right, to support them before they started bombing! Great, make a deal with people that would do that to you?

It is just so easy to just look at it from a Serb perspective - 'well I'm alright, they wanted to leave me' - It wasn't 'you' they wanted to leave, it were some of those barely sane leaders they wanted nothing to do with. I understand that completely.

Now the Bosnian Croats are trying to go through with their war agenda. It is very sad, and I do feel sympathy for all Bosnians. Remember they were the least to blame for what happened. Most only supported independence as a final resort, once Slovenia and Croatia had left. Had Slovenia and Croatia not left Jugoslavija, Bosnia would never have done so.

Zoran

pre 16 godina

Sandro, I really do feel sorry for the Bosnian Muslims. You were promised everything by the US and you broke a peace deal believing you could get it but the consequences ended up meaning several tens of thousands of deaths - Serbian, Muslim and Croatian. You ended up with less land and you are now bankrupt. So much for going against the Serbs and putting your faith in the West. The same thing will happen with the Kosovo Albanians.

You need to get over this idea that Bosnia belongs to the Muslims. From the point of view of Serbians, if you didn't want to live with us in Yugoslavia then we should we live with you in BiH?

Serbia is a functioning multi-ethnic country and I truly believe the Bosnian Muslims have always belonged with us but the divide and conquer games of the time split us apart. If you removed some Milosevic era politicians, I think we could make peace again and form some kind of union. The Croatians are a lost cause and a deal to let them go in exchange for Krajina would seem logical. Remember, we had quite a few Muslims on our side during the conflict.

They are my thoughts. My mother is a Bosnian Serb and I always enjoy visiting the country but it's always sad seeing the destruction. As you know, RS is pretty much independent now.

"Inevitable. The billions of dollars the US and the West spent in Bosnia, Kosovo, Georgia and most recently Ukraine, went down the toilet. "

The money went down the toilet for all taxpayers, but one has to remember that money doesn't just dissapear, they go somewhere, thats why Thaci, Saakashvili and Justjenko in Ukraine can live in huge mansions and have a lifestyle similar to the Sultan of Brunei.
Also many EU deadbeat politicians such as Jaap de Hoop and Pieter Fieth have become wealthy due to the money spent in these regions.
Also lets not forget all the contracts western firms have gotten in Kosovo and Bosnia that were paid for by taxpayers money.

Sandro

Yes marko, they will accept an independent croat entity in Bosnia but not a serb. Keep dreaming! Anyway, this is great news for RS. If the croats want out nothing can stop RS. Thanks "dear neighbours". I guess the plan of Tudman and Milosevic finaly came through.
(Mikael C, 3 February 2010 10:52)

What are you on about? There will never be an Independent Croat state within the current Map of Bosnia, how ever there WILL be a Serbian one.

You need to organise your comments and research a little bit more.

They should seperate! Bosnians supported Bosnia to seperate from Yugoslavia but that was just like this ILLEGAL. If it was ok for Bosnia to seperate from Yugoslavia illegaly then why can't Serbs & Croats seperate?? Don't they deserve freedom like the freedom Bosnian Muslims fought for? It would be better for everyone...Muslims could then have lands that are more than 95% Muslim. They can even have Muslim law in that new country free of Serbs & Croats.

All quiet on the western front – not a peep out of the US, EU, Haris or Captain crackpot Stipe Mesic. The western hypocrisy is just staggering. However, I hope they keep it up because even the people in Europe see the double standards from these lovers of freedom and democracy.

Everyone knows Republika Srspka was always going to leave Bosnia, but now our closest friends and the people we share our state with, the Croats want their own state, this is ridiculous. As someone once said "Atleast you know what your getting with the Serbs, but with the croats they will eat your bread then backstab you". This is a shame, the International Community runs Bosnia. As a Bosnian, I was unhappy about RS but now this... It doesn't compare to RS, Comparing RS to "Republika Hrvatska" this is just appalling. It is bad enough the Serbians are taking Bosnian peoples land, and now Croatia wants a piece too. This is like a Formal versian of Milosevic and Tudman taking Bosnia for their own benefiets.

It is a shame, this makes me Support the Serbs in Krajina. If Croatia takes half of our "Federation" then Krajina, Vojvodina and all those places will leave their respectable countries. This is Modern times, no one is changing. Republika Srspka probably wont leave Bosnia due to the Dayton and the International Community. But the Croats, they are looking like even bigger culprits than the Serbians. I do believe Mesic once said "Bosnian-Croats, Your capital is Sarajevo, Your Politics are Bosnian, Your children are Bosnian".

And Peaceful outcome? We gave half our country to the Serbians, I am pretty sure we wont give another square meter to anyone, If you want Bosnian lands, then take the Small channel (Brcko I think) and share it with the Serbians, but the Bosnian Federation isn't going anywhere. That is our lands and no one will take it from us.

As a child, when Bosnia wasnt good at football, my family always barracked for Croatia, we thought they were our real brothers, but now. I would rather turn towards a Serb than a Croat. This makes me sick in my stomach.

If you respect Bosnia, then Bosnians would respect you, Bosnia isnt a cake, you cant take pieces of It. Afterall, Bosnians ate the cake. There is no more pieces left.

Like I said, if Mesic had sent in troops to stop a Republika Srpska referendum and turn Bosnia into an independent state he would be betraying his own people there, and for what? He's just in a midlife crisis where he years for the days of fighting the old Serb enemy. But the reality is different now. Christian unity in Bosnia is the only way forward.

Inevitable. The billions of dollars the US and the West spent in Bosnia, Kosovo, Georgia and most recently Ukraine, went down the toilet.

Imagine if the American people could get that money back, along from the money spent Iraq and Afghanistan. Great cities like Detroit would probably not have suffered so much.

It just goes to show you that you cannot try to apply your set of values in other parts of the world.

But who are we talking about here? Parts of the Bosnian Serb leadership were crazy, and we all know what Milosevic was like. What kind of choice was that?

The choice was the Lisbon agreement and it was signed by all three parties to prevent war. The Muslim side changed their mind and all hell broke loose. Here is a reminder - check http://www.deltax.net/bissett/western/bosnia.htm

We all know what Clinton and Blair are about also and the Croatian and Bosnian leadership were no better. The chance for peace was lost, not because of the Serbs.

I just goes to show you who has more influence, Croatia or Serbia?
marko

Yes marko, they will accept an independent croat entity in Bosnia but not a serb. Keep dreaming! Anyway, this is great news for RS. If the croats want out nothing can stop RS. Thanks "dear neighbours". I guess the plan of Tudman and Milosevic finaly came through.

Also lets not forget all the contracts western firms have gotten in Kosovo and Bosnia that were paid for by taxpayers money.

why are all you people saying that croats want to separate from BiH?.... that is not what they're asking for, they're asking for their own entity within BiH, that will still function together with sarajevo.
The republika srpska already have their entity, but want to separate from BiH. croats are not asking to separate from BiH, but only from the muslim-croat federation
