Christian Serbs visit their deceased, in particular, on the Christian holy day of "All Souls' Day" to respect their deceased and to pray for blessings for the deceased. Those ALbanians who desecrate Serb graves must realize one important thing: it is entirely wrong to perform violence against an entire ethnic group of people. There are going to be good people and there are going to be bad people, but most people are good, and do not deserve their deceased to have desecrated graves. Those Albanians who desecrate hundreds and hundreds of Serb graves must realize that there are going to be many, many good Serbs who are deceased and do not deserve their graves desecrated. Those Albanians who desecrate Serb graves do not even know anything personally about those deceased Serbs as to their mentality, life styles, or character. Also, graves are very expensive and were meant to last for at least thousands of years.

A question: was Tito a genius for managing to keep the mutual hatreds expressed here under control for so long, or was he responsible for exacerbating them and thus causing the Yugoslav Wars by preventing them from being worked out politically?

Richard Z

pre 16 godina

Joe, yes I would say the same.

And if tommorow Hungarian graves or Albanian graves would be vandalised I would speak out against it and hope they would catch those responsible. I would not make an excuse an refer to an 65 year old crime against Serbs, which would have been out of place in that situation.

Doesn't mean I deny the past and what has happened, it just means showing respect to the families and victims of the current crimes. Hopefully you can do the same.

Joe seems to forget that Hungary killed a half a million Jews in WWII, and that the Hungarians in Serbia cooperated with the Nazis and betrayed their Jewish and Serbian neighbors.

timotimekvej

Joe, actually Serbs condemn and speak out about killed Hungarians and Germans in N.Serbia, but there are many more Serbs who were killed by those very same Hungarians fascists and Broz communists! You seem always forgetting something about history of your country that was on wrong side in two world wars.

Joe

pre 16 godina

Richard Z,

You see this is the problem even with you. 65 years is too much for you to go back. If those unmarked massgraves
would be in Hungary with Serb victimes would you still say the same? I doubt it very much.

Richard Z

pre 16 godina

Oh sure Joe,

How far do you want me to go back, can you do the same for all the crimes commited against Serbs during the past centuries?

I condamn all the wrong doings no matter by who against who. But I also would like a better future for all those involved.
What disturbs me is to see that everytime something is happening now instead of comdaming it it gets justified by refering to what happened in the past.
Nothing has changed really and no-one seems to have learned anything from the past.

And if Eulex or the Albanians are really willing to go after those that are desecrating graves, then we finnally would know who is responsible. If it were Serbs vandalising their own graves, then let them be found and arrested. However I really doubt that, also because no-one has been arrested so far.

And those graves that recently have been vandalised in Vojvodina were Serbs graves.

Vandalism against the graves in southern Mitrovica is an inexcusable crime and an insult to the memory of the people buried there, as well as those who follow Orthodox Christianity, which places great importance on preserving the memory of its members through grave sites.

Serbian Orthodox believers, please ask your church hierarchy why they will not let these grave sites be restored. It is a fact that money, labor and support from the local communities (including K-Albanians) has been offered to restore these grave sites by NGOs, international donors and local government officials in Mitrovica.

Bishop Artemije has flatly refused these offers of restoration and solidarity.

Unfortunately, in these circumstances, one can only assume that the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo and +Artemije, specifically, see an interest in letting the vandalized graves remain as they are, i.e. as a constant, painful reminder to everyone who drives into Mitrovica of the injustice suffered by Serbs in Kosovo. While the accusations of injustice may be true, it is completely un-Christian, un-Orthodox.

Art, firstly, Serbian authorities have already apprehended at least one suspect for the vandalizing in Serbia. It's been years that this sort of thing has been going on at this same cemetery and even a pattern in terms of date when it occurs in Kosmet and nothing has been done. Their is a serious problem/lack of will to prosecute Albanian crimes that have committed crimes against Serbians in Kosmet in general, so I can fully understand people's frustrations with the current situation in Kosmet.

Richard Z, I have not read one comment from a Serb implying any lack when it comes to Serbia and the desecrated graves in Vojvodina, yet when something happens in Kosovo, they always cry it was the Albanians and always blame incompetence.

Joe

pre 16 godina

Richard Z and USAserb,

If you really condamn ALL wrong, all desecrated graves than you should also condamn the deep silence of the Serbian government about the unmarked mass graves of innocent Hungarians - mostly peasants - massacred in Vojvodina in fall of 1944. Their case was discussed several times on this site. After 65 years we passed the first step. Their massacre is not denied anymore. However 99% of them don't have a headstone. Not even a desecrated one. Those headstones are still not allowed - 65 years after their massacre! Wouldn't it time to change that? Wouldn't it time to condemn those crimes by the current Serbian government, which declares itself democratic, wants good-neighbourly relations with Hungary and hopes to join the familly of democratic European countries?

Richard Z

pre 16 godina

lili we know what happened, at least we are investigating what happened and arrest those responsible.

However this is happening now, and so far I haven't read a comment from an Albanian speaking out against what's happening now 10 years after the war like this crime.

Richard Z

pre 16 godina

There should be no excuse for this no matter what happened in the past. I am sure there are many Albanians who don't agree with what's happening, and don't aprove this act, sadly they don't post on this site.

Both Albanians and Serbs have commited crimes and both sides suffered losses. These crimes needs to end once and for all, there should be no excuses.

If you can't speak out against these crimes, it's better not to say anything at all.

you don' believe albanians,so here you have the statement of your minister about your crimes:

The minister also said an investigation was under way into a second freezer truck containing the bodies of dozens of ethnic Albanians dumped beside a hydroelectric plant at Perucac, on the Drina river, during the Nato air raids.

He confirmed a report from a senior police official, Dragan Karleusa, who said that a truck with about 55 bodies surfaced in Perucac lake in April 1999. The bodies were later buried in a nearby mass grave.

The first gruesome case of a freezer truck containing 80 bodies of ethnic Albanians dumped into the river Danube near Kladovo, 250km east of Belgrade, was revealed by police only in May. That truck went into the Danube in April 1999. The bodies were later buried at a police training compound, just north of Belgrade.

The excavation of the mass grave in Batajnica started last month and showed that all the victims came from Kosovo. Kladovo and Perucac are hundreds of kilometres apart and hundreds of kilometres from Kosovo.

Let's keep reminding everyone that these are the people that Biden and Hillary support. Let's shame these politicians into changing their policies, that is of course if they have any shame, which is very doubtful. Today's Kosovo is a pure hell hole, with absolutely zero human rights, no freedom of movement, and a center for drug, human and organ trafficking. Bravo Biden! I am sure your kids and grandkids are very proud of you!

There is an old Serbia saying. Radi sta hoces samo ne dokle hoces. Translation, do what you want but not for as long as you want.

This certainly applies to what the Albanians have been doing to a very long time. The end is near for all their sick and inhuman antics. There are signs that the US is rethinking their policy for Balkans and it doesn't look so good for the Albanians.

I think they have played up too many times and too many people have seen what they are all about. Now not even Obama can sweep all this horror under the carpet and keep supporting them.

What sort of people will not leave even the dead alone? Surely the lowest act on the same par as organ harvesting.

I bet you we all will see another similar link in 2-3 years but at place called Vojvodina. This is how it started in Kosova by Serbs and now it started in Vojvodina, but I think that will be the last stop.

You are from USA - than maybe You don't know, that desecrated graves in Vojvodina was on SERBIAN ORTHODOX and JEWISH cemeteries!!!!

Joe, actually Serbs condemn and speak out about killed Hungarians and Germans in N.Serbia, but there are many more Serbs who were killed by those very same Hungarians fascists and Broz communists! You seem always forgetting something about history of your country that was on wrong side in two world wars.

Joe seems to forget that Hungary killed a half a million Jews in WWII, and that the Hungarians in Serbia cooperated with the Nazis and betrayed their Jewish and Serbian neighbors.

A question: was Tito a genius for managing to keep the mutual hatreds expressed here under control for so long, or was he responsible for exacerbating them and thus causing the Yugoslav Wars by preventing them from being worked out politically?

Richard Z

Joe, yes I would say the same.

And if tommorow Hungarian graves or Albanian graves would be vandalised I would speak out against it and hope they would catch those responsible. I would not make an excuse an refer to an 65 year old crime against Serbs, which would have been out of place in that situation.

Doesn't mean I deny the past and what has happened, it just means showing respect to the families and victims of the current crimes. Hopefully you can do the same.
