I know very well that Serbs too were victims at the hands of the Croats, Bosniaks and Albanians in the past, no one can cover this up, war unfortunately brings out the worst in people, but all I meant was that when something that the Serbs did is mentioned, many Serb nationalists go into denial and immediately bring up something that happened to Serbs, that's all I meant.

L

I agree 100%, not to mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

"18 years of anti-Serb propaganda in Europe has locked certain views into people's minds and the damage has been done and it will take a generation or so to finally get rid of this mark"

Remarks like this shows how effective Milosevic' propaganda did its work in Serbia. By only reading Politika and the Serbian state media (radio and television), which was completely in the possession of Milo and his clan.

Serbia is for the rest of the world NOT that important that we need an "Anti-Serb Propaganda".

Well, ladies and gentlemen from the EU,If you think you will set up a guilt complex scenario upon us Serbs like you did with the Germans to camouflage your crimes in the Balkans then you are dead wrong.

Peter, Word News recently reported the crime committed in Vietnam during that war by us spraying agent orange over villages. Hundred thousands of children born deformed and land poluted. It is terrible even to watch. The American ambasador said it is not proven that it was caused by agent orange. Go figure. So I guess, we are looking for truth in all the wrong places.

It is clear that the anti-Serb forces are out here tonight considering all the "poor comment" votes to the pro-Serbian comments. What is clear is that the EU by this move is once again raising the bar for Serbia to become an EU member. It will never be good enough. I would hereby like to ask the European parliament to also start remembering the people who died in the Algerian war (and since it happened in French territory after WWII it can be considered partially European territory as well).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algerian_War_of_Independence

153,000 Algerians have been estimated to have died. For all you Albanians out there, your favorite Turkey actually called it genocide (they should know, of course (it takes one to know one)).

http://www.turkishweekly.net/news/30263/algerian-president-france-committed-genocide-in-algeria.html

Or how about the Dutch police actions in Indonesia after WWII.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesian_National_Revolution

I will not even list all the people who died in the name of the English kings and queens. All people who died after the First Gulf War and during the most recent Iraq war can be partially blamed on the UK. The main message is that also the European parliament has learned to apply double standards. People like "Dardania", "Olf", and "Roberto", please get yourself an education so you will be able to post less junk at this site and become a little bit more critical to your own history and the histories of your fellow butchers.

It is about time that the EU made such a move, considering that in certain respects they and the other internationals bear some responsibility for letting the serb forces commit these horrors.

i am utterly disinterested in the historical revisionists (either from ww2 or the balkan wars of the 90s) -- they will continue to put out their lies and half-truths and it is not our responsibility to answer them each time, and to be dragged down to their low level.

at last the eu has taken one proper step forward. thank you.

Peter,

I completly disagree with you. No Serb in this postings denies any civilian killings in Bosnia.

Its is the rest of the world that believes that no Serb civilians were ever killed in any war. Please listen and understand why Serbian people are upset when they hear claims like this. Serbian genocide in Croatia has always been swept under the rug. Believe me there were more than 5,000 Serb civilians killed in Croatia.

We will never hear any wrong doings of countries that are allied with NATO and EU.

Maybe that is hard for you to understand. Serbs naturally response is defend themselves, because they are always attacked from top to bottom.

Peter (#7),

I agree with many of your comments. However, how come that every time that Serbs defend Serbia that it automatically makes them nationalistic (in a negative sense) and that are trying to deny something or deflect attention from something else? You will find that if the EU and others would have a real interest in the truth that a part of history would have to be rewritten. Of course this will not happen for then it will be exposed that the EU also had a hand in things and that they were not neutral. It was a civil war with casualties and war crimes (unfortunately) on all sides. The Srebrenica massacre did happen, maybe not to the extend that has been claimed for the past 13+ years, but in very few countries the reasons behind it and the responsibility of the Bosniaks and their foreign allies has been completely denied. I just know that one day more details will become known to a larger public and then opinions will slowly change.

While it's true that one cannot deem Srebrenica to be a genocide, rather a war crime, it's a shame that some Serbs here continue to deny responsibility. Turks deny the Armenian genocide, there are people who even openly deny the holocaust, it's extremely sad to see that Nationalist Serbs fall into this category too. Of course the whole of Serbia cannot be blamed for Srebrenica, but it would only be decent of some Serbs not to deflect the blame onto others.

What propaganda - only telling part of the story. EU only remembers deaths of non-Serbs, great job EU.

EU how many innocent serb civillians did you murder in your "humanitarian bombing?"

Milan

This is another attempt to keep openly demonizing all Serbs and especially Serbia, even though Serbia was not responsible for Srebrenica. "Genocide is the organized attempt to deliberately and systematically destroy, in whole or in part, an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group." The killings in Srebrenica can be considered a massacre (and not genocide) which was partly based on revenge for the numerous killed Serbian civilians and which was a direct result of a failed UN policy (especially the Dutch troops there who did not dare to confront and disarm the Bosniak army and their Mujahedeen allies). Why not remember the Armenian genocide by the Ottoman empire or why not trying to stop real genocide in Sudan and many other places in the world? Why not remember the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Krajina and Kosovo? The EU is indeed an exclusive and racist club of states and Serbia has to ask itself once again if it really wants to join this club. 18 years of anti-Serb propaganda in Europe has locked certain views into people's minds and the damage has been done and it will take a generation or so to finally get rid of this mark.

This is ridiculous, considering that well known political scientists like Nye say that only 6,000 got killed, not 8,000. And furthermore, what is also amazing is that people call them civilians, when they were men of military age, and men that had slaughtered thousands of our people in srebrenica's vicinity.

“Proclaiming July 11 as a day of remembrance for the Srebrenica genocide should be a step in the right direction for reconciliation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region,” European Commissioner for Foreign Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner said in support of the initiative.'

Now we have a German lecturing us about 'genocide'. How lovely. Perhaps she should declare August 5'th, Croatia's 'victory day', as a celebratory holiday for the EU. This was REAL genocide, sponsored by the US and Germany, which completely cleansed Croatia of Serbs, who are still not allowed to go back.
This is just more anti-Serb propoganda by the EU meant to further blacken and weaken Serbia. It is just more proof that the EU is not our friend. They want us weak and subservient.
