Ilić: Chance for cheaper energy

Not only does Serbia get cheap energy, but we get energy security and with an oil and gas pipeline running through our territory, we make hundreds of millions of €s each year for that plug all the jobs will generate.

So some claim the sale of NIS was cheap but fail to see the overall package. This far exceeds anything the EU or West can offer.

They don't even have energy security and could find themselves begging for supplies sometime in the near future. A strong economy means nothing without energy!

2. This year the Serbs will have 18% discounts both for oil and gas !

In today's Russia members of the Government do not discuss such important things as advantage prices for gas and oil unless they are authorized to. But concerning Serbia they do it.

So the chance for such merits to be approved is quite big. It's not a secret a lot will depend on the resuls of the elections. The new prices are to become a present for the new leaders to come but not the way it was at the Presidentials when Russia has supported Tadic to be disapointed later.

By the way since 1 January Ukraine is deprived of the priveleged gas price of 179 USD as a hostile country. Instead they are expected to pay 360 USD. So this place is to be free for Serbia. Ukrain has been gaining some 5 bln USD annual only from Russian natural gas.

I would not put too much stock in expecting the Russians to sell you their gas at any significant discount.The Russians are shrewd businessmen and are entitled to full market price for their assets.However,just the fact that Serbia will have a guaranteed supply to meet all of its needs even at fair market prices is enough incentive to make this deal go through.

It doesn't take much to pull the wool over the eyes of the posters in here. Hopefully the rest of Serbia is not so gullible. And you criticize Kosovars for believing western promises.

Serbia should look how Russia played the game with Belarus. It started with a pipeline and a lot of promises.

I apologize for my ignorance of the cyrillic alphabet so can somebody please tell me what this means?I highly admire the judo master and it is obvious that he will be the most important person in Europe for the next 40 years.It is far up to heaven and far to the czar.I think I remember that from my Russian studies of long ago.If Serbs get any kind of discount then that is obviously a good thing but Serbia should work hard to attract capital from all corners of the Earth and not let politics interfere with business.
