It is so Ironic that those anti Titoist Croatians call Tito a criminal and a fascist. Yet most of them support Franjo Tudman and Ante Pavelic which have committed far worst crimes then Tito.

The real criminals and fascists are those anti Titoists.

I see nothing wrong with Croats removing Tito's name if they don't like it. The new name "Theater Square" is not offensive, fascist or mean-spirited. Tito was a dictator and his image built on myth and lies.

The ironic thing though is he and Yugoslavia overall helped Croatia - for instance securing land the Italians had claims on and the Croat and Slovenian Partisans did a lot of ethnic cleansing and killing of Italians, and therefor theft of land. The Italians are lately making statements about this and want to undue some of the Yugoslav treaties with Italy whereby Italy gave up claims. So the Croats are big into clinging to many things and border securing/changes Tito did for Croatia.

It's the Serbs who are entitled to the biggest beef with Tito and what he did to Serbia - including making autonomous areas done to weaken Serbia, no such autonomous areas for the millions of Serbs in Croatia or Bosnia.

"Tito's Yugoslavia had a communist government but remained independent of the then Soviet Union to become one of the most prosperous Eastern European countries. "

Indeed, I am not surprised. Hope, "Unilateral Great Republic of KosovA" will do better compared with, say, Poland than Tito's Yugoslavia. Also wonder, why the only country in East Europe which was united was... Germany and so many "fell apart". Almost like "someone" was working hard to achieve it?
