I do respect Mr. Montgomery's opinion presented here. However, I would not agree with him. It is my right not as a reputable analyst or politician but just as a common man living in Montenegro to tell him that he is wrong and I dare say he is taking Montenegro and situation here from the perspective of Milo Djukanovic's regime and his media and his diplomats spreading their "truths and realities" all over the world. I would like to invite Mr. Montgomery to come and live here for a while, talk to people actually living and working here. What surprises me the most is the fact that not even one media in the world, almost no analysts or politician talk about their misrepresentations, illegal way of obtaining the votes in the elections and finally in the referendum (which is the biggest deceit of all seen so far). Do you really believe that we are having a great time here and that the only problem we have is Serbia. Come on people - get real! We live in fear for our lives, for our jobs, for the future of our children. I would just like to ask Mr. Montgomery to write an essay about the huge pressure we are exposed to. I wonder if he is aware of the fact that we can thank Milo Djukanovic and his servants for the hate between brothers, between fathers and sons, friends. I would like to ask him to write an essay about all the affairs Mr. Djukanovic was involved in, about all the unsolved murder cases, about the way his tycoons earned their wealth, about the fact that he is in power for 15, 16 years (and he seems to be so surprised when someone mentions Montenegro in context of his private state), about the fact that his ministers are only exchanging positions, about the fact that he brought all (and I mean ALL) Albanians living abroad to vote for him but did not allow Montenegrin citizens living in Serbia to vote (actually he allowed it to number of them by issuing them a false personal documents as he knew they would vote for independent Montenegro) and his loyal servant holding a private business threatened my sister with sacking her if she voted in the referendum (You either stay at home on the referendum day or Monday you do not have to come to work). And you know very well that she was not the only one - people all around Montenegro were listed in their firms with all the personal data and were called to "informative talks" (and you know what I mean by this). So much about this FAIR and DEMOCRATIC and FREE referendum and democratic independent state of Montenegro. I would be freer in your prison and would have more rights than here. Why don't you Mr. Montgomery write about that for a change?! Do you think that all the stories against him and his independence project are nothing but a lie? Do you really believe that? Why do not you write about the REAL purpose of this referendum? Is not it strange that he kept on repeating that everything would be the same between Montenegro and Serbia and they were complaining so much about the relations with Serbia? Who would then want to keep the same relations with Serbia if they were so destructive? And the situation in Montenegro would improve? (With him in power for another 15 years as "young and promising politician - what an irony??? I doubt).
Do you Mr. Montgomery think that I want my child to learn in school poems of a famous Montenegrin poet that finished two primary school grades? Do you think that I want a heretic to teach me my religion? Do you think that I want my history to be suddenly turned upside down by some self-proclaimed historians who were created just for the purpose of this regime and their "historical project"? No Mr. Montgomery that is just what I do not want and I do not want "to go anywhere else since I do not like it here" (that is what those "children" of his keep telling us). My great, great grandfathers and my grandfather lived and died here. My father lives here I was born here my children were born here. Do you really believe that he loves Montenegro more than we do? It is just impossible. We just do not want him to do with Montenegro and this poor people what he and his servants want.
And therefore Mr. Montgomery I would like to inform you that there is the other side of your story. If you scratch a little bit you shall maybe find the real truth and next time you shall write about that.
And another thing Mr. Montgomery Montenegro is a small state with about 700.000 people and we all know each other, we are all cousins and friends - it would not be hard for you to find people I was talking about and write another story about them.

I very much respect Mr. Montgomery's opinions and believe him to be objective. Nevertheless, I wonder if he would accept with grace and dignity the annexation of Southern California to Mexico.
As he stated in his previous editorial, RS is the joker in the pack. It will take quite some 'diplomacy' to justify an independent Kosovo and deny the same 'human rights' to others.
American policy towards Serbia is softening substantially and is beginning to break away from the myopic Albright/Lake policy.
Whatever happens though it is basically our fault. People get the govt they deserve (and it could get a lot worse). A lot of good things have been done in the past few years, I really believe that. But until Serbs accept their reality, and stop destroying their potential with wasted resentments, we will go nowhere. Even if America is rooting for us!
