Serbs are an interesting people. The kick out Rio Tinto and embrace Putin. The Jadar project could transform Serbia's entire GDP and economy as the largest foreign investment in Serbian history. And lithium is the new oil in a transformational economy. The spin-off benefits to Serbia, like attracting battery manufacturing and other industries into an integrated mining complex, would have put Serbian on the economic map in Europe. Insane decision by the Serbs.

This is a big mistake and throwing away a large mining opportunity that could add 15 billion to Serbia’s GDP. Rio Tinto gave more than enough assurances on environmental safety and a state of an art facility was to be built. Not sure what the political motivation to scuttle the project was but it certainly was not economic.
