Slovenians: "Serbia should join the EU"; "It doesn't have to. It brought us nothing."

Majority of Ljubljana citizens support Slovenia's commitment to speed up the process of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, Serbia becoming an EU member.

Turkey early on was a candidate country but was never allowed to join the EU. Serbia and other countries are facing the same fate. However, both the Russian and Turkey econimies are growing and surpassing EU countries. More importantly they have more control of monetary police and U.S economic sanctions against Russia has minimal impact because Russia is not reliant on petro dollars or EU notes. Serbia economy is starting to expand but its greatest challenge is tackling corruption in order to accelerate its economy. The rest of the western Balkans are much smaller markets requiring massive economic Investment which is not forthcoming. A good example is Trepča mine in Kosovo which is not running at capacity and in need of infrastructure. The Kocova Oil fields in Albania is another example where the Oil does not fetch a good priče in the market.
