It will take some time but the way Serbia is heading it will be a great place to live with high wages. I have said it many times Vucic has done a brilliant job of attracting investment and I like to give credit where credit is due. These days politicians like Vucic are extremely rare because most are liars and crooks. I know I have dealt with many.
On the issue of Croatia, I work in the finance area and know the financial situation of all EU members very well. A lot of this information is not available to the public nor on the internet.
For years I used to listen to Croats boast about the wealth of Croatia and how they and Slovenia carried Serbia. Well, where it that wealth now? Surely once they lifted Serbia off their backs Croatia would in the words of Franjo Tudjman be able to “achieve the same living standard as Switzerland”.
Yes, they could if Serbia would carry them as it did in Yugoslavia, but that is all over. Yes, its fact that the Croatian annual budget consists of 60% EU funds. Without this Croatia would look like Chad. Zagreb has to apply for EU funds to reconstruct the earthquake damaged buildings. It has to submit a detailed proposal prior to receiving any money then it’s inspected after completion. Brussels is no longer just throwing money around like confetti. If Croatia is so rich, why do they need EU funds? Because BS rises to the surface sooner or later.

Well said SJ, i wont comment about the croatia portion, however everything else is spot on correct.

A big problem with Serbia is/was not enough was not enough jobs. Where people had to compete with the little available, which resulted in reduced wages as people took what they could get. Now that more companies come, the tables are turning where companies are competing for labour, this is forcing them to increase wages.

I myself (electrical engineer), have been closely watching the growth, and I am seriously considering of moving to Serbia in next few years. Especially which how things are developing there.

I’m not sure whether to laugh at you. The company in question does not produce broom handles or toothpicks. It’s involved in a highly technical area that requires highly qualified employees. On the issue of higher wages, well in order to attract the right staff they need to pay more. At the moment these wages would not be comparable to the ones paid in Germany but they would be higher than those paid in Serbia. Why do you think they relocated in Serbia? Because the costs are lower.
Yes, there will be German management in the facility, but the technical staff will be Serbs.
How do you think Germany started after WW2? Or China? Yes, they both did exactly the same as Serbia is doing today.
Of the former Yugoslav republics which can claim investment on the same scale as Serbia????? As I said rich Croatia “propped” up Yugoslavia but today its annual budget comprises of 60% of EU funds.
Or maybe they did all of this just to make Vucic look good and its all fake - Germany's MTU breaks ground for engine repair facility in Serbia - https://seenews.com/news/germanys-mtu-breaks-ground-for-engine-repair-facility-in-serbia-presidents-office-746592

If this article above is intended to convince those not living in Serbia that the economy is booming, then I have a bridge in Beograd for sale. Certainly most Serbs would just snicker at such a ridiculous assumption. If there is even the slightest hint of truth to such an assertion, then where are all these high paying jobs for Serbian citizens. If the these jobs exist, then they must be for the Germans sent from their companies to fill these high paying jobs since Serbs are not deemed qualified!

What not in Croatia? How is that possible when they have rich Croatia at their disposal, oh wait the EU funds 60% of Zagreb's annual budget each and every year. Maybe that's way.
What about Kosova? Surely the Germans would be more than willing to open up facilities there since they recognise its so called independence?
But if the Americans refuse to open anything there why would the Germans.
Yet we see on this site Albos claiming that there are still 1.8 million or some claim over 2 million of their fellow Albos still living in Kosovo. Little to no jobs yet all these people live there. I wonder how they manage it?
