Sorry to disappoint but they have been saying this for years now and no result. It’s the usual EU look on the bright side statement.
On the issue of Serbia joining the EU, that is looking less and less likely as the years go on and if Serbia does not join neither does Kosovo. There is nothing in joining the EU. The golden days are long gone as the cash has run out just ask Slovenia and Croatia.
Plus even if Serbia met all the criteria tomorrow the earliest it could join is 2035.
On the so-called need for EU funding, that’s a myth since the pandemic recovery fund was set up to help EU members, but to access this fund you have to contribute towards it. It’s now no secret that individual EU member budgets have been slashed to redirect money towards this recovery fund.
The aid to Kosovo has also been slashed.
If Serbia is desperate for funds why is it then able to access 5 different vaccines and give its population a choice of vaccine? In fact Serbia is in a far better financial position that anyone in that region.
