This is not what Albanians' masters want to see. The Americans wanted the total removal of taxes so as to give dialogue a chance.
I suspect that this crazy decision is down to Sierra Leone being the 18th and latest nation to revoke Kosovo recognition.
Here is how it should be.........
Albanians need to remove taxes fully on all goods from Serbia and Bosnia. Then they should go to dialogue with a blank sheet of paper. No conditions whatsoever. And certainly no ultimatum where the result of dialogue must be Serbias recognition.
Only when both sides go with no preconditions or ultimatums can anything be achieved.
I think Albanians have shot themselves in the foot. Nothing will change, apart from more countries revoking Kosovo recognition. And Albanians know that America can not and will not attack or force Serbia into a corner. Belgrade has options but Pristina has not..........

As for Serbias EU membership I read and follow that a majority of Serbs do not really care too much for the EU. Certainly the vast majority would not give up their Kosovo for EU membership.
The last few years have seen tens of billions invested in Serbia from many countries, including many EU members, China, etc. They will not sanction Serbia and see their investments go up in smoke. Money is the driving force of the west.
While time passes Serbia is doing better and better. Their economy is improving, unemployment falling.
Their diplomatic efforts have resulted in 17 nations revoking Kosovo recognition. The balance is now in favour of Serbia.
On the other hand, Albanians are still poor. No investment, no visa free travel, losing diplomatic support. The status quo favours Serbia, not Albanians.
Even the US is telling Albos to drop all taxes. How long will America keep supporting Albos??

However lets look at agreements that were signed in the past.
UN res 1244.......was ignored by Albanians and "the democratic" west.
Cefta........Albos broke the rules there as well.
Brussells agreement........yep, you guessed it, Albos signed it and then ignored it.
The only thing Albanians want from Serbia is Serbias recognition. They keep on mouthing off that any discussions/dialogue must result in Kosovo recognition. That is not going to happen, we all know that.
I say again that Albos must drop all taxes and resume talks without any preconditions. Serbia will then go to talks.
Dialogue now (as opposed to 10/12 yers ago) is not all in Albos favour. Serbia has more support in the UN than Pristina. Whoever engages in talks must be as neutral as possible. Not Serbia alone and Albos with America. Best is the two sides on their own. But if Albos want the US to hold their hand then Serbia must have Russia at the table. Only fair.
But I think all this is pointless as Albos will not engage if it doesn't favour them. So isolation, no UN, no visas, mass unemployment, etc.....enjoy...

You are naive to think Kosova has no options, whereas, Serbia has many options. Remember, Serbia is a long way from becoming an EU member, there are many members that oppose Serbia’s membership based on its inability to embrace European values. Even the US has enough “Soft Power” to disqualify Serbia from the EU. Kosova, on the other hand, has the option of joining Albania, with many American Politicians supporting the joining to Albania, then becoming independent later.

You didn’t answer my question: If you want to start negotiations with a clean slate, are you willing to give up what has been gained, so far, by Serbia, e.g. The Association of Serb Communities in the north of Kosovo?

I recently read on b92 that Vucic claimed that Serbia does not have to give up seeking de-recognitions of Kosovo before resuming negotiations with Kosovo. Do you really believe Kosovo will remove tariffs on Serbia?

You think Romania and Bulgaria have embraced European values? From what I read these 2 countries are very corrupt indeed. Its was a political and geopolotical decision to accept Romania and Bulgaria. Not a lot to do with "European values".
You think Hungary and Poland follow those values? And Croatia is also very corrupt. That country cleansed up th 300,000 ethnic Serbs in '95 and nobody cared. Is that European values??
Now that we in Britain are leaving the EU, joining this club is not so attractive. We were a major net contributer to the EU coffers.
If Le Pen gets into power in France we will see a "Frexit". And then what???? Look at Greece and some other EU nations. Absolute disaster. Most members debt is much higher than when they joined the EU. So your view that the EU is the be all and end all is not quite the case. Joining the club is not that attractive these days. And it seems most Serbs dont care too much for the EU (the elite apart).

However lets look at agreements that were signed in the past.
UN res 1244.......was ignored by Albanians and "the democratic" west.
Cefta........Albos broke the rules there as well.
Brussells agreement........yep, you guessed it, Albos signed it and then ignored it.
The only thing Albanians want from Serbia is Serbias recognition. They keep on mouthing off that any discussions/dialogue must result in Kosovo recognition. That is not going to happen, we all know that.
I say again that Albos must drop all taxes and resume talks without any preconditions. Serbia will then go to talks.
Dialogue now (as opposed to 10/12 yers ago) is not all in Albos favour. Serbia has more support in the UN than Pristina. Whoever engages in talks must be as neutral as possible. Not Serbia alone and Albos with America. Best is the two sides on their own. But if Albos want the US to hold their hand then Serbia must have Russia at the table. Only fair.
But I think all this is pointless as Albos will not engage if it doesn't favour them. So isolation, no UN, no visas, mass unemployment, etc.....enjoy...

I recently read on b92 that Vucic stated that 75% of Serbs are in favor of joining the EU. This is contrary to your argument to another commenter below, on this article.

Tom O'Simple..........if you care to note I wrote that BOTH sides need to go to dialogue with no preconditions or ultimatums.
Albanians' only wish is that any dialogue has to result in Serbias recognition. That is not going to happen, and the sooner Albos accept this the better. Otherwise nothing will change.
Wishful thinking or not, this is where we are.
