@resident.

let me walk you through this.
you claim that a winner of a nobel prize in liturature should be held to your political standards. I asked you if you would hold other recipients of the prize to those standards, and if you have investigated any offending political statements that were made by the winners of the nobel prize in physics or chemistry.

They are all nobel winners, yet you singled out one nobel winner based upon a political statement that you were aware they made. So from that perspective, considering my point, they is an equivalency.

however the crux of the matter is why should any of these award winners in a field that is NOT politics (in your humble opinion) be held to your personal political standards?

do we not measure a footballer on their prowess on the field? was the croatian great luca modric measured on his footballing to win the balon d'ore or was he measured on his political opinions?

so, can you explain why your political opinion should be considered when awarding a nobel prize in literature?

Correct, but its more out of the need to stop stupid commentary especially the ones where they really don't contribute to the topic raised except make silly statements that go nowhere.

And which commentary -- of any type -- are you "stopping"?

After reading your comment I'm not sure why you have to mention chemistry and physics.

Why?
why do you feel that this writer should not receive a prize for literature based upon his literary works, nor his political statements.

this is very much unlike giving obama a peace prize for his literary work and not his actions of peaces which the committee claimed.

can you please explain why in your new brunswickian opinion politics supersedes literature, what political opinion has to do with literary works of art and genius?
did you happen to learn anything about the political stance of the winners in chemistry or physics per chance? or are you only interested in this set of political statements as an act of removing one's political freedoms (happy for you to live in canada where you have the freedoms to say what you wish politically but seem obliged to not extend the same privilege to this author, who by the way has this privilege already).
can you please explain your stance? as a canadian.

So democracy be damned then?
He has as much right to his beliefs and opinions as anyone else and to yank the prize away from him because he doesn't satisfy the rabid left is ridiculous. Either we believe in freedom of speech or we don't.
Do we only have to believe what Albanians and the left around the world believe or else?

Those who read the book should comment. From a Serbian viewpoint, they were obligated to defend themselves. A Rambo mentality (when in doubt-kill) may have influenced many. This was probably due to irresponsible media.

I think it's absolutely hilarious that an award based on literature somehow needs to include the sensitivities of Albanians as a requirement. This may come as a shock to our favorite DingDongs, but the world doesn't revolve around them and it certainly doesn't care about their 40 year attempts at rewriting history and inciting violence and terrorism so they can play the role as innocent victims. You want to throw your children into oncoming traffic and then claim "genocide" at the driver so you can correct some border from 1912, that's your thing but if the award goes to someone who writes well AND happens to not buy your sob story, then it should come as a reminder of how little the rest of the world thinks of you.

A decision was made to award an accomplished writer a Nobel prize for literature. Presumably because he is talented and has a gift for conveying something that the rest of us are unable to articulate. frankly the prejudiced opinions of some minor Albanian commentators and the usual anti-Serb mob are irrelevant.
