When I google this I get like 10000 entries mentioning its a race between Turkey and Bulgaria. But apparently, its gonna be built in Serbia. Source: Serbian newspapers. Why is this country so full of shit? How can it be, that Bulgaria and Romania have more than twice of our wages and gdp per capita?
Maybe, because the only thing we can do is produce hot air and talk, whilst we have been surpassed by Albania and Macedonia economically. Who would build a factory in a country with twice the taxes of its neighbors, and outside of the EU? Is this serious journalism?

Kosice in Slovakia and Miskolc in Hungary also in the race since these two town lost out against Debrecen for the new BMW plant. Both of them are quite prepared. Slovakia has the language advantage since the factory will produce Skoda cars, on the other hand Audi Hungary produce 2 million engines for all branches of the VW Group. So competition will be exceptionally strong down to the last seconds. I don't think production goes outside of the EU. Maybe the only exception Turkey because it has huge market potential.

It would be good if they take over from Fiat, as Italy and Serbia were never able to achieve the free trade deal for Fiat cars with Russia, despite years of trying. One of Russia's partners in a free trade deal, specifically Kazakhstan, objected because it doesn't want Fiat to compete with its vehicles. And it doesn't look like things are progressing either.
