One way, it's not that cut and dry! We didn't successfully protect our territory, but up to that point, the Ottomans had never sustained such a devastating blow to their power. The Serbs were outnumbered by 4 to 1, and still fought valiantly by themselves - no other European countries came to their aid. And this is where it gets tricky - even though we were unsuccessful in defending our land, we were able to kill the Sultan Murad 1 and caused chaos within the empire - brother killing brother for power type of thing. My point was how far do you go back to claim a land as your own? As far as I understand in 1945 the population of Kosovo was split 50% - 50% (Albanian - Serbian). If you research even further back it shows a majority Serbian population. And even as far back as 1455 the Turkish Ottomans conducted a census which concluded that the population was well over 90% Serbian, while Albanians made up just a tiny 0.26%.
Today the population of New Mexici in the US is 47% Hespanic. Imagine in 20 years that figure rises to 75%. Do you think the Hespanic population should have independence if yhey want it?
And to go on about Illyria is just plain crazy. Its just this side of the stone age.
