One of those days when I really miss my friends J. and Leonidas. If you read me you both need to know that it has always been a pleasure reading you and writing to you. I will never forget our long long conversations on history and actuality. I hope you both are well and enjoying your families and life. Sken sincerely and trying to hide a tear from very very curious daughter

Any investment in Albania would be a good thing as a principle. Albania is a de-industrialized country as we write here. But western investors are escaping from Albania while Russia has no will to replace the Ussr in terms of direct aid to Albania or to any other former communist country for that matter. And there is Erdo factor also. Erdo is patronizing Rama and Thaci everywhere but mainly with Russia. In return Russia would recognize Turkey historic links to Albania Kosovo and Bosnia. With Greece's new status as the pillar of US geopolitics in the region Russia will be very hesitant to openly contrast Turkey's cultural and economic expansion in Balkans. Rama has no mental capacity to understand and take advantage of the contrasts between Erdo and Tsipras.

Truth hurts.

Russian investment in albania would be a good thing. Not only would it help both economies, it would also be an influencing factor in the region.

Let me be less diplomatic and finish the phrase for the ambassador: ...but there are no real russian interests in Albania..but no major pipelines pass through Albania..and its always business as always and where there is no business involved there is no love from great powers. At the end Russia chooses her brothers in business and the only thing good about relations of albanians with Russia is that if a compromise with serbs is found russians can help us make China at least abstain at the security council and not vote contrary.
