For those that want to know what happened. Tito’s partisans attacked a German convoy and killed 20 soldiers and burnt the vehicle.
The Germans went to the local school, Kragujevac Gymnasium, and started to separate the teachers from students, but the teachers would not leave them saying they are our students and we go where they are going. They were true to their words and followed their students to their death.
For a near week you could enter Kragujevac, but no one could leave. That is how they built up the numbers.
Not far from the main monument is a smaller monument to a couple of shoe shiners, Roma kids, and they were shot because they refused to shine German officers’ boots that had blood on them.
Further into the Park there is a museum.
An interesting point, the land slopes away from the Monument forming a depression which only has water flowing when it rains, but at that time it ran red with blood during those executions – the executions lasted 3 days.
On a note two German soldiers were also shot because they refused to fire on the children.
