Nobody really cares about withdrawals of recognitions from countries that change their stances as soon as a pro-Russian government comes to power. The real power of recognitions is in the military might of the recognizers and the economic investments coming from businesses or aid from those recognizing countries. Kosovo is an example of being able to run a country without needing a UN membership. You can both unilaterally declare independence, and you can rely on your allies to both protect and invest in you. And it will still work. There is plenty of UN members out there that are doing much worse than Kosovo. You can tell they are desperate when they turn to Russia for bread crumbs. Any legitimacy that comes from being a UN member or being recognized by forgotten nations is negligible compared to the military and economic guarantees that come from key international players. Yes, the extra legitimacy is nice, but it is still an extra, not a requirement. Let's see if Nigeria, Uganda or Suriname can help Serbia when countries like Germany throw in a Kosovo recognition requirement before being able to obtain EU membership. Serbia will be in the same position as Kosovo. It will still be able to run as a country without EU membership, but if it wants the extra perks, recognition will be the price.

There has always been a lot of ambiguity when it comes to which countries currently "recognize kosovo". Prime example, Egypt recognized while the Muslim Brotherhood was in power, but Sisi's gov't voted against Pristina joining UNESCO! Does that country for example even recognize anymore? Not so much.
High time Albanians begin negotiating with Serbia for more than autonomy, less than independence. It's a sweet deal for the Albanians! Soon as both sides can let go of their chauvinism the better.

Nobody really cares about withdrawals of recognitions from countries that change their stances as soon as a pro-Russian government comes to power. The real power of recognitions is in the military might of the recognizers and the economic investments coming from businesses or aid from those recognizing countries. Kosovo is an example of being able to run a country without needing a UN membership. You can both unilaterally declare independence, and you can rely on your allies to both protect and invest in you. And it will still work. There is plenty of UN members out there that are doing much worse than Kosovo. You can tell they are desperate when they turn to Russia for bread crumbs. Any legitimacy that comes from being a UN member or being recognized by forgotten nations is negligible compared to the military and economic guarantees that come from key international players. Yes, the extra legitimacy is nice, but it is still an extra, not a requirement. Let's see if Nigeria, Uganda or Suriname can help Serbia when countries like Germany throw in a Kosovo recognition requirement before being able to obtain EU membership. Serbia will be in the same position as Kosovo. It will still be able to run as a country without EU membership, but if it wants the extra perks, recognition will be the price.

If might makes right, then how can you blame North Korea, or anybody, for trying to aquire the single weapon (nuclear) that would keep your borders from being violated?
