Assigning the territorial of a state the sanctity reserved only for God is the most moronic concept in the so-called international law.
A state is a contract between free citizens accepting to live together. If some of those citizens don't desire any longer the continuation of the same state under their borders they should be free to do so, regardless whether is a repression or not.
They were only 33 states in Europe in 1945, there are almost 50 today. Violence and war didn't stopped the disintegration of some of the superstates like Yugoslavia or Soviet Union.
So what if Catalans want to break up from Spain even if there was no oppression?

To be free it's God's given the right .
Catalonia deserves to be independent , and they will .
Kosovo should have been independent long time ago , they don't belong in Yugoslavia , they not sllavs, and they are in their lands long before sllavs arrived .
Now if the sllavs war allowed to build churches and monasteries for religious purposes , now should not take the advantage and claim their own land .

It sounds strange but it is always a hand who wont's to stir the waters. I think the Russians should be blame. Now we have a connection between Catalonians case and Kosovo which Serbian propaganda machine wants to use it for their interests.

Aqif- you are wrong. No minority in the history of human civilisation had the rights Albanians had in Yugoslavia. You had everything. Nothing was ever enough.
Then your terrorist drug running elements took over, with the help of bin laden and his CIA handlers, to provoke the government. Mostly by ambushing police and army patrols, but also the intimidation of Serbs.
We could have given you everything bar independence, and it would never have been enough. One way or another, and be damned everyone, you would cause chaos.

Let their be a lesson for serbs:

If you opress and discriminate a native minority and treat them terribly, what do you expect to happen? They will say enough is enough and they will rebel against those who opress them. Common sense. Its called logic. Its ironic that the serbs who were oppressed by the ottoman turks themselves decided to opress the Albanians in Kosovo. Congrats! You are no better than the Turks who did the same to you!

Hypocrisy at its finest!
We wanted to be left alone. We had no intentions to commit harm towards serbs or anyone. We wanted freedom since you are were terrible at treating albanians. The oppressor will always lose one way or another since they can never destroy the soul of the people who wants freedom. Always have been like this and will always bee like that!

With the breakup of Yugoslavia and with Kosovo, they let the genie out of the bottle which will be difficult to put back. The Catalan referendum will embolden others. The ICJ ruling regarding Kosovo is so ambiguous that now anybody can claim independence. That does not mean the the actual independence is legal but that the proclamation is not illegal. So anybody and his kitchen sink can now proclaim independence.

I'm sorry i don;t agree with you!
I ask you why Serbia asked her independence from Turks, for the same reason Kosovo asked it from Serbia.
For the same reason Kurds, Catalanas asked it.
Are the mistakes that Europe did!
She enslaved the small nation, she tried to hide the problems but they were always there...
That's is!

This has spread beyond Europe. Why is the Kurdish referendum being ignored? Check -> http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/kurdish-referendum-independence-iraq-flights-irbl-cancelled-baghdad-a7971296.html

The Kosovo precedent has spread far.
