The GIK Prvi Maj workers, who have not received salaries for thirteen months, say they will not move from the tracks until their demands to be paid have been met. Railroad still blocked at Lapovo "Despite the strong rain and cold weather the workers spent the night in a tent on the tracks, and will remain there until all the wages and contributions owed them since the start of the year have been paid," Nebojsa Stankovic, of the construction company's union, said. He also commented on statements coming from state officials and the company's management, who said the protest was leading the firm toward bankruptcy, by saying that the owner embarked on that road when he bought Prvi Maj in 2006. Stankovic also revealed that the workers organized strikes three times since then, and that they are on unpaid leave until the end of this year. The protesters expect to meet with Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic at 15:00 CET, who will be in town on a visit to the local authorities and a local company. The railroad at Lapovo on Tuesday (Beta)
