The Croatian government has no intention of dropping the genocide charges against Serbia, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor has stated. She said this commenting on the additional arguments which Serbia filed to the International Court of Justice in The Hague regarding the genocide committed against Serbs. “Croatia will not withdraw genocide lawsuit” “We have no intention of dropping the charges and the government headed by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) will not withdraw them,” Kosor underscored in a statement posted on the government's website after the Croatian media had reported the statement by Serbian Justice Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Homen and the Serbian government's stand that the best way to resolve the issue is by mutual withdrawal of charges. The Croat PM noted that only the government had the authority to withdraw the charges and that she personally never revised or discussed this issue. However, she added that this in no way called into question the talks on other matters and underscored that the most important unresolved issue referred to prisoners and missing persons, the key to which lied in the documents of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). On January 4, 2010, Serbia's legal representatives filed the charges against Croatia for the genocide committed against Serbs during the 1991-1995 conflicts, and by this move, the Serbian government responded to the genocide charges Croatia filed in July 1999.
