The agreement on the conditions of transit was signed earlier by NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and former State Union Foreign Minister Vuk Drašković. The agreement was ratified in the former parliament.

After his visit to the Serbian Army Peace Operations Center, Polt told journalist that the cooperation in the security sector was fast improving after the signing of the SOFA agreement.

Ambassador Polt and Serbian Defense Minister Zoran Stanković expressed satisfaction over the high level of the three-week international course attended by the first class of the UN peacekeeping missions military observes. 12 Serbian army officers and 14 of their Albanian, Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, Macedonian and Finnish colleagues completed the course.

”I am astounded by the level of cooperation between the people from the countries which were until recently in conflict. I am amazed not only with the good conditions the course provided, but also with a clear vision of Serbia as the United States’ partner in maintaining global peace”, Ambassador Polt was quoted.
