MONACO Germany's tennis legend Boris Becker will join the coaching team of Serbia's Novak Djokovic in the coming season, as his new head coach. Djokovic and Becker will start working together in the next few days to prepare for the first Grand Slam of the season, starting on January 13 in Australia. Boris Becker is Novak Djokovic's new head coach "I am happy to be working with Boris, and I believe his great tennis knowledge and his experience will help me win trophies in the biggest tournaments,” said Djokovic. "He is also a great person, and he will fit in our team easily. I think that Boris will bring a fresh new approach, and together with (Marian) Vajda's longtime experience in working with me and his assessment of all important segments of the game, we will have a winning combination," he said. I am proud Novak invited me to be his head coach and I am looking forward to our working together. I am sure we can achieve great results and I will do my best to help him win more Grand Slams and other titles,” added former tennis champion Boris Becker. Vajda, who has been working with Djokovic since 2006, said that the two of them made a joint decision to bring Becker to the coaching team. Over the past eight years, we have achieved nearly all of our goals, but we needed a new member of the team to help Novak perfect certain segments of his game, said Vajda, adding that he personally will now have more time for his family and private commitments. "I am certain that Boris and I will get along very well in our future work and that Novak will continue to improve,” said Vajda. Novak Djokovic (file) Tanjug
