VLASOTINCE Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday that he has not yet received the letter sent by 14 embassies in which they back the holding of a pride parade in Belgrade. He also underscored that, for it to be organized, a security assessment must be made first. "Security assessment needed for Pride Parade" "We are never against the holding of a pride parade, but first a security assessment has to be done, one should not rush into that,” Dacic said. “That is a delicate issue, as we will have pressures from Europe that the pride be held and any other decision would be interpreted as our unreadiness,” Dacic said, “Nevertheless, there is something more important- that is security, so we will do a serious security analysis,” Dacic said in Vlasotince, where he opened a new production facility of the Elrad company. The prime minister notes that Belgrade did organize a pride parade earlier, but also cancelled the event and that is why the authorities should seriously consider the security situation. The embassies of several European countries, Canada and Australia backed the holding of a pride parade in Belgrade, and called on the Serbian authorities to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for participants. The letter, which was signed by representatives of 14 embassies in Serbia, was put forward to Serbian Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, and Goran Miletic, a member of the pride parade's organizing committee.
