Serbia has been ranked 80th, in the group of countries with noticeable problems, out of 179 countries in the latest Worldwide Press Freedom Index 2011-2012.

Serbia has been ranked 80th, in the group of countries with noticeable problems, out of 179 countries in the latest Worldwide Press Freedom Index 2011-2012. The report was issued by Paris-based international press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RWB). Serbia ranks 80th on press-freedom list This report groups countries in five categories: good situation, satisfactory situation, noticeable problems, difficult situation and very serious situation, and Serbia found itself "in the middle", in the group of countries with noticeable problems. The Balkan countries placed better than Serbia according to the Worldwide Press Freedom Index are Bosnia-Herzegovina (58th) and Croatia (68th), while Macedonia (94th), Albania (96th) and Montenegro (107th) are ranked below Serbia. As regards neighboring countries, Hungary got the best ranking (40th), followed by Romania (47th), while Bulgaria was tied with Serbia (80th).
