Stem Cell Center construction to begin in 2012
The cornerstone of the first Stem Cells Center will be laid in the central Serbian city of Kragujevac in March 2012, Deputy PM Bozidar Đelić said Saturday.

The cornerstone of the first Stem Cells Center will be laid in the central Serbian city of Kragujevac in March 2012, Deputy PM Bozidar Djelic said Saturday. “The center will have a stem cell institute and bank, and the entire project is worth about EUR 10mn,” said Djelic. Stem Cell Center construction to begin in 2012 “Additional EUR 2.3mn will be invested in equipment,” the deputy PM noted, adding that this would be the first stem cells center in the Balkans and that it would be led by Serbian geneticist Miodrag Stojkovic. The investment of the City of Kragujevac and the Serbian government in the center's infrastructure equipment is worth RSD 40mn. Together with Stojkovic, Djelic opened an international symposium on stem cells at the Medical Faculty in Kragujevac today. (Mike Jones)
