In one week's time, the town of Guca will host the 49th annual brass band festival, which gathers the best bands from Serbia and abroad. The festival has eight competitions, and a attracts an increasing number of foreigners each year, as well huge crowds of Serbian visitors. Guca readies for brass festival Organizers this year are expecting a record number of guests, with free entrance to the stages. Local authorities have refrained from increasing taxes, and hopes are that local restaurant owners will adjust their prices to the economic crisis. While there are only about 2,000 people living in Guca, more than half a million revelers pour in during the festival every year. Locals are finishing up preparations to receive the guests. Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Center in Guca Adam Tadic says that this year, only registered households will be able to receive guests, "so that bad experiences from the past can be avoided". The price of overnight stay, depending on the category and quality, starts at EUR 20. While ambassadors and important international guests stay in the AS Hotel, many have already reserved hotel rooms in the surrounding area. Most rooms in hotels in nearby Pozega, for example, have already been booked by visitors from Slovenia.
