B92 journalist Jugoslav Cosic has won the Ricardo Ortega award for his coverage of the work of the United Nations. The award is presented each year for reporting on UN activities and issues that are of major importance to the UN. Cosic will share the award with a Kenyan journalist working for the French AFP agency. The goal of the UNCA is to liaise between journalists and the UN Secretariat in its work on problems such as access to information. The association brings together more than 200 members from 50 countries. The UNCA presents awards every year in three categories: press and internet media, television journalism, and reporting on development problems. Cosic will be awarded for his television work. The award is named after Spanish journalist Ricardo Ortega, who was killed while covering a story in Haiti in 2004. The awards will be presented on December 4 in a ceremony at UN headquarters in New York by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
