A Bosnian court has convicted Pasko Ljubicic to ten years in prison for war crimes committed against Muslims in the village of Ahmici. Ljubicic, a former commander of the Croatian Council of Defense (HVO) military police, was found guilty of charges that he on April 15 and 16, 1993, ordered his inferior officers to start an attack on Ahmici. "During the attack, Bosniak civilians were driven out of Ahmici, many suffered grave mental and physical pain, while two mosques were demolished," the court said today in Sarajevo. Ljubicic, originally detained at the Hague Tribunal, was sent back to Bosnia on Sept. 22, 2006, when the Hague prosecution referred the case to the Bosnian courts. Ljubicic reached a plea bargain with the Bosnian State Prosecution when he pleaded guilty to the charges, Beta reported.
