Vučić: "Serbia and Cuba are perceived as independent and libertarian countries" VIDEO

After the welcoming ceremony in front of the Palace of Serbia, a meeting between the president and the guest from Cuba followed.

Plenary discussions of the delegations of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Cuba were also held. After the signing of the bilateral agreements on cooperation, statements were made by the presidents of the two countries.

Vučić: Cuban friends have always been helpful to Serbia

President Vučić said after the meeting that this was the first visit by a Cuban president in four decades.

He said that he wants to continue working on improving their relations and especially thanked Cuba for its support when it comes to the territorial integrity of Serbia. "Our Cuban friends were always helpful to us and we could always count on them," said Vučić.

He added that everyone in Serbia loves Cuba. Vučić said that, among other things, they discussed the improvement of relations in the field of healthcare. He added that they managed to make enough rocket charges in our dedicated industry thanks to the explosives we imported from Cuba.

"What makes Cuba and Serbia similar is that they are independent and libertarian countries, and that is what unites our peoples," said Vučić. He stated that the Serbian and Cuban delegations discussed cooperation in the field of biotechnology, as well as tourism cooperation.

"It is important for us that we can always count on the political support of Cuba, as we will always be on the side of justice and truth and support Cuba," said Vučić.

Cuban President: We want to strengthen friendship

The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, reminded that Serbia and Cuba have 120 years of interstate relations.

He said that we have perfect relations between parliaments and ministries and added that we can develop cooperation in the field of culture and sports.

Cuban President said that cooperation should be strengthened in the fields of agriculture, culture and tourism. "We really want the ties between our two governments to be stronger and we want to continue cooperation," he said.

Cuban President said that their positions regarding support for the territorial integrity of Serbia will remain the same and that Serbia will have Cuba's support.
