Stefanovic, Frattini discuss reforms in Serbia
Frattini is president of the Italian Society for International Organization and is a former Italian foreign minister and EU commissioner.Through the strong actions and the targeted reforms, we want to continue the European integration process, said Stefanovic, adding that the Interior Ministry strives to make Serbia more efficient in the fight against crime.
Frattini commended the Serbian leaders for the clearly expressed commitment to European integration and for the progress achieved in this process.
"I believe that the economic reforms carried out by Prime Minister Vucic will soon yield results," said Frattini, who serves as an advisor to the Serbian government.
"Equal partner"
Thanks to IPA project funds, Serbia will be able to forge better ties with regional countries and other European Union states in the fight against organised crime and corruption, Nebojsa Stefanovic said in Rome on Tuesday.Stefanovic was taking part in a conference on the fight against organised crime and international cooperation in criminal judiciary, also attended by interior ministry officials of seven Western Balkan countries, Italy and France.
"The participation in this conference is significant and beneficial to our citizens, because the IPA project funds make it possible for us to fund certain training and boost the security of our borders," Stefanovic noted.
Crime knows no boundaries today, and illegal drug trade takes place across the Balkans, a Serbian Interior Ministry statement quoted Stefanovic as saying.
"Even though it is a major problem for Serbia, which is investing maximum efforts to demonstrate to its citizens that it is fighting drug trade intensely, our country will show that it is an equal partner to European countries," he said.
Ties established among European countries in the fight against illegal drug trade will help Serbia as well, Stefanovic noted.
