Đilas was addressing a news conference when he stated that the latest figures from the Statistical Office showed unemployment rate at 28.9 percent, "and not 21.1 percent, like Vučić said on January 6."

He also reminded of Vučić's words a year and a half ago when the leader of the Progressives said unemployment was at 25 percent.

"We told him then this was impossible, it would have meant that 150,000 people were given jobs, and I'm asking the citizens if they are aware of their fellow citizens, neighbors who were given jobs last year," Đilas said.

The National Employment Bureau figures show that 20,000 lost their jobs during the past year, he noted, and added:

"If there weren't for the jobs along partisan lines, which are estimated to reach 30,000, there would be 50,000 more unemployed people in Serbia compared to a year and a half ago. The DS is under obligation to, on Statehood Day, warn the citizens what is in store for this country in the coming period."
