NOVI SAD The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) said on Saturday that there was no stable majority in Novi Sad City Assembly, but Democrats claim otherwise. The SNS signed a memorandum on joint political action in the Novi Sad City Assembly with the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) and Roma Democratic Party on Saturday. Democrats say they still have majority in Novi Sad The SPO councilors left the current ruling coalition on Saturday after failing to agree on certain issues with the mayor. The Democratic Party (DS), League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) formed the ruling majority in the Novi Sad Assembly that has a total of 78 seats. SNS Novi Sad Board President Milos Vucevic said on Saturday that the SPS had until September 1 to decide whether it would join the talks on the forming of the new ruling majority or not. DS Novi Sad Board President and Novi Sad Mayor Igor Pavlicic did not want to comment on the memorandum that was signed on Saturday but he stressed that the DS-led coalition still had the majority in the city assembly.
