EU facilitator in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue Robert Cooper has said that Serbia will have to continue the dialogue with Kosovo if it wants to join the EU. He added that if the country called elections in Kosovo, it would not create a good atmosphere for reaching agreements. Elections in Kosovo not good for Serbia, facilitator says “If the elections took place, the signing of new agreements would most likely come to a halt, but the implementation of the already reached arrangements would continue,” Cooper told Radio Free Europe. He stressed that the issues concerning Kosovo were very difficult and that they would be critical for the opening of the accession negotiations between Serbia and Brussels. “This is the attitude taken by the European Commission (EC), but a final decision is made by the European Council and national parliaments, and I mean, for example, Germany,” said the EU mediator. Cooper pointed out that the northern Kosovo issue had to be resolved at a high political level. He said it was ridiculous to differentiate between the technical and political dialogue, pointing out that technical issues were to a great extent the same as political ones. Robert Cooper Tanjug
