It keeps amazing me that the EU is taking the architect of Poodle politics and one of the key supporters of the Iraq war such a leeway to do more harm.

Once again his words are distorting reality. These are negotiations between the EU and Serbia. It is the EU is that making concessions towards Serbia. The only thing the Albanians are doing is rubberstamping these agreements. Sure, sometimes they want more, but there is never a serious discussion about what Serbia wants from the Albanians (minority rights, monuments, refugee returns, etc.) and the Albanians do never any concession on these Serbian demands. This is Ahtisaari in slow motion.

Wow. Not a good start for reconciliation eh?

So many fascists still about. I guess not much has changed since the days of the Ottoman Empire, changing your religion just to get back at the Serbs?

So you have sided with Turks to not pay land tax, changed your religion & your names, sided with Nazi Germany, currently still siding with a killing organisation NATO, and after all of this you STILL have it in for anything against Serbia.

Wow. I guess the next 1000 years are going to be very, very long.

"Cooper pointed out that the northern Kosovo issue had to be resolved at a high political level.

He said it was ridiculous to differentiate between the technical and political dialogue, pointing out that technical issues were to a great extent the same as political ones."

But I thought it was the Albanians all along who only wanted to talk about technical issues and not the political ones? Which means they do not consider it "ridiculous to differentiate between the technical and political dialogue" .... so Mr Cooper, are you in fact talking to the wrong party?

"Why on earth should Serbia not have elections in the whole of the country ?? "

Because if it does, it won't get a date to start accession talks. And someday Serbia will have to go to (by then, EU-member) Kosovo and ask them nicely for their vote.

So in other words, recognise Kosovo or you won't get into EU.
Looks like the only people still saying we won't have to recognise Kosovo are Team Tadic.
People, wake up and get this government voted out now before it's too late.
It's always one thereat or the other from EU.
Say enough and move on.

Sir Robert Cooper ! Watch your language please. I know you are the EU facilitator, but I think you should be and are very aware of that Kosovo presently is a southern provice to the country of Serbia. This according to the UNSC and certainly to the very vast majority of world countries.

Two things are undisputable:

1. There will for sure be elections in Kosovo. If the majority of the population in this small province, ie the K Albanians want to boycott it, so what. People boycott all the time. Why on earth should Serbia not have elections in the whole of the country ??

2. No one, and I mean no one alive today will see Kosovo as a full fledged country OR member in the EU family.

Stay on track Serbia, most of the world is with you !!

It is pointless Serbia joining the EU unless it demands and gets respect. Obviously there should be elections throughout Kosovo - Serbia is not going to renounce its ownership. The solution for Kosovo is autonomy under 1244, but unfortunately the illegal attempt at a racist udi is standing in the way of proper agreement. If dialogue with Pristina is to achieve full success, Pristina will have to act under 1244 and stop pretending to be a government. Serbia must stand by its principles and demand that the EU recognise that racist udis are unacceptable. These are not the times of Milosevic - but there is still no reason for Serbia to give up its land.

It is ridiculous that some little countries (such as Slovenia) are treated as countries while there are vast provinces throughout Europe with populations of many millions who receive no direct representation. Why should little so-called 'countries' that scarcely qualify in size as a small city have full representation? Kosovo is too small to be a country - or ever to deserve direct representation in the EU.

It is time for the EU to impose a minimum size on countries that are allowed to take a seat at the table. Now Scots nationalists are arguing that Scotland should be independent despite its small size because it would be able to get a seat at the European table. Maybe every country should fragment so their bits can all get seats at the table. Some sense of sensible proportion is missing in these arguments.

It is ironic that the UK, having supported a udi in Kosovo, is now suffering the same kind of arguments in relations to the separation of Scotland.

Chickens do come home to roost!!!

Mr. Cooper, you said that in order for Serbia to join the EU they need to continue the dialogue, so making agreements is not necessary.
