The night and morning went peacefully in the tense northern Kosovo, where the citizens and KFOR soldiers continue their standoff near the barricades. Reports from the predominantly Serb part of the province said that there was "occasional movement" of the NATO troops deployed in the village of Zupce, where one of the Serb road blocks is located. On those occasions, all capable citizens head toward the barricades at Zupce and Jarinje. The roadblocks are made of tree trunks and trucks loaded with soil, sand and logs. EULEX chief Head Xavier Bout de Marnhac said last night, after holding a meeting with municipal presidents from the north that lasted two hours, that the EU mission, along with KFOR, "will continue to work to secure freedom of movement to all citizens and representatives of missions". The citizens, however, said that all roads in northern Kosovo will be cleared immediately once KFOR and EULEX return to exercising a status-neutral approach, and remove customs and police workers sent to the administrative crossings of Brnjak and Jarinje by the Kosovo Albanian authorities in Pristina. The traffic and basic supplies in the north are in the meantime taking place on smaller roads that are of poor quality, especially when it rains. A scene from one of the barricades (Tanjug)
