SNS, DSS can’t have broader cooperation

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) believe that there is no need for attacks, SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic says. He told B92 that in a talk with DSS leader Vojislav Kostunica on Friday, he insisted that “there should not be conflicts among the opposition, even when there is disagreement.” SNS, DSS can’t have broader cooperation Nikolic noted that they also agreed that DSS and SNS will continue contacts through meetings of party delegations, adding there is no room for broader cooperation at the moment. “I think there is no chance of them joining our rally (announced for February 5) or any other action we organize,” the SNS pointed out, confirming Kostunica's position on the constitutional change. The DSS leader said Friday that DSS and SNS had differing stands on constitutional change, and that DSS remained against altering the highest legislative act. “Nikolic did not accept the arguments I laid out and stuck by the position that SNS wants constitutional change,” noted Kostunica, who believes that defending the Serbian Constitution is a national obligation of the highest priority in order to preserve essential state and national interests.
