The wife of Ratko Mladic was taken to a court in Belgrade where she was interviewed and is now facing criminal charges related to illegal possession of weapons. The Mladic family lawyer Milos Saljic told reporters that the weapons in question were seized in a search of Bosiljka Mladic's house conducted on December 4, 2008. Hague fugitive's wife detained Authorities in Serbia are looking for the former military leader of Bosnia's Serbs, who has been indicted by the Hague Tribunal on charges of war crimes and genocide. Now the lawyer said that the weapons were found “in Ratko's locked wardrobe”, which his wife did not open, and was unaware of its contents. Saljic also said that Bosiljka Mladic was detained without first receiving a summons to appear in court. “I've told this to the judge and I'll say it again: this detention is the revenge of the state and pressure on the family, since the family announced it would seek to have Mladic declared dead. The family, however, will not give up on this, and we will submit the request as soon as we get Ratko Mladic's birth certificate from the municipality of Kalinovik,” the lawyer told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti. Meanwhile, Serbia's War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimr Vukcevic reacted by saying that the laws of the state apply to all its citizens, “if there are elements of crime”, and added that he expected the state to act along these lines in the case of Bosiljka Mladic. Hague Cooperation Team chief Rasim Ljajic said this was not a case of pressuring the family of the fugitive.
