Why don't the Serbs ever protest against Tadic or put pressure on his government? Things haven't improved for Serbs (for example: unemployment kept going up each year after Milosevic was ousted), and Serbs are still mistreated by the west even though they cooperate from within. Serbs are so passive. Only when it's a western funded and organized protest group, such as Otpor, will Serbs have any persistent and strong "protest." Of course it was really all for western agenda, and all those people were 5th columnists - whether ignorant or not of that truth.

"Peggy I'm sure the police can search a person's home on suspicion of possesion of weapons or whatever reason they used.

And the fact that they found weapons kind of nullifies your argument."
====================

Actually it doesn't. There is a limit to what police can do and constantly searching someone's home is not acceptable in any democratic society. What judge would issue so many warrants when they keep coming up empty? They came up empty so many times previously.

In this case they didn't come up empty but the weapons were found in 2008. Why didn't they arrest her back then? Why now?

Out of so many searches they hit gold once (weapons). How come they kept missing this in previous searches? It's not like they are so small you can put them in a pocket during searches.

Bottom line, invading someone's home time after time is considered harassment.

You can try to defend Tadic (your hero) as much as you want but harassing an old woman time after time is wrong and Tadic has shown himself to be no better than a dictator.

Sorry Zoran, like I said get some perspective. What Mladic's wife is going through is nothing compared to what Serbs and other minorities have gone through in Kosovo. I find that comparison well over the top.

I don't justify harassment, although its obvious this has happened but in this case guns were found.

Whether you would organise the protest or attend is neither here nor there. What I'm saying is that ethnic supermacists, Obraz and football hooligans would be in attenance.

If you are happy in that sort of company then go ahead.

Zoran

pre 13 godina

But like I said, a bit of perspective. This harassment isn't out of spite or anything and lets face it, is pretty mild in the Balkan context.

So you are admitting and justifying harassment of an old women. How does that differ from ethnic Albanians justifying crime against Serbian?

If there was a protest organised against this harassment then I would attend and bring along others. I didn't say I would organise one.

Peggy I'm sure the police can search a person's home on suspicion of possesion of weapons or whatever reason they used.

And the fact that they found weapons kind of nullifies your argument.

On the other hand speaking as somebody concerned about human rights its obvious that his family are being harassed. And we know what the goal is.

But like I said, a bit of perspective. This harassment isn't out of spite or anything and lets face it, is pretty mild in the Balkan context.

There is a way of stopping the harassment and if I was Ratko Mladic and loved my family I know what I'd do. After all he's had a good innings now, probably not long to go.

Zoran, I don't think one man's harassment or another man's reasonable arrest for posession of weapons is reason to take to the streets in protest.

But hey go ahead and rally your friends and make one. See who else turns up and then suddenly realise that the protest is nothing to do with what you are fighting for. No, you'll be joining a protest that will be idolising Ratko Mladic and the criminal leadership of the Bosnian Serbs of that period.

Peggy

Those are proper reasons to go out onto the street to protest.

So are preservation of human rights. You have the right not to be harassed any time a government official or a cop decides to invade your home.

Funny how they never discovered these weapons in the many searches of her home before.

The only disgusting thing is that the Mladic gentleman, the big Serbian 'hero' (at least he's that for some of his supporters) is still on the run and escaping the justice.

Those yellows are yellow alright. I'd yell in a low voice at them.

Then I'd Su(t) natovac.

Hell yeah, its not fair. But a bit of perspective please. Hundreds, thousands, millions of people are suffering much more in Serbia and beyond. I'm more concerned to hear the stories about ordinary people like some poor people run over by a drunken official, or the way monopolists are robbing the public blind or not paying their workers for months.

Those are proper reasons to go out onto the street to protest.

Dragan

Sandro,
Tadic and his yellows are supposed to be ruling Serbia, and doing things to please the Serbian population, not to please Bosnian Muslims like you, or EU beauraucrats, or NATO.
How did I feel about Milosevic? I didn't like him, I think he betrayed Bosnian Serbs when he drew a border along the Drina, and he should have never recognized that fake country of yours.
No worries though, his wrongs will be corrected in time.
Cheers!!

You are disgusted at the actions of the Serbian government?

They found illegal weapons in a ladies residence. The normal thing to do in this scenario would be to arrest the home owner.

But then again, if you are so disgusted at the Serbian government. I wonder how you felt about the government during the Milosevic era.

These shameful "yellows": this is not the first widow of a hero that they've harassed, not the first old lady arrested for polishing her husband's old gun, one of the few cherished momentoes she still has of him http://www.b92.net/eng/news/old_archive-article.php?yyyy=2003&mm=03&dd=17&nav_category=12&nav_id=21946

Curious as to why a priest and his son should be seriously injured during a NATO raid? The priest ended up in a coma. Please explain how a priest and son are a threat to heavily armed NATO troops?

Mladic was having regular meetings with NATO generals while this indictment was in place. Then all of a sudden his wife, family and priests are being harrassed and injured. Please explain that also.

All I have to say is that this current government absolutely disgusts me in the way it goes about trying to kiss the EU's backside in accordance with its Hague obligations. This is nothing but a pure case of intimidation and blackmail, the weapons are obviously not hers and she would never use them if she knew they were there. What else will Tadic and Co. do to make sure their hallowed dreams of EU integration become reality? This society in Serbia is becoming more strict and anti libertarian than the US, and there is no need for this to happen. Welcome to potential life in the heavenly realm of the EU, Srbijo.

No charges should be brought against the lady, since the gun belongs to Ratko. The reason why the gun is/was there, s that in case there is a raid and ratko happens to be there, he will use it aginst himself rather than facing the Tribunal.
